Wolves (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Ok first half, not great second half.

The ways our team runs out of steam midway through the second half is a bit of a concern. I know Pep protects the squad but is it possible they aren’t fit enough ?

Encouraging debut from Guehi. He looks quality. Khusanov is going to be huge for us. Semenyo is a beast, really looking forward to seeing more of him.

What is wrong with Foden ? Could he look any less interested ?

It was good to see Haaland and Foden dropped for their recent performances. Same line up for Wednesday please, Pep.
We looked a lot more fluid and enterprising in the first half than of late, two well taken goals and on another day we'd have been given that penalty for handball. Only one moment of note attacking-wise in the second half, when Semenyo rattled the woodwork - other than that we created nothing and the game was marred by a large number of stoppages for free kicks and injury treatments. Great to see the defence blocking those late efforts to preserve the clean sheet.
Promising debut from Guehi and good to see Nunes back. O'Reilly was MOTM for me. Marmoush was lively early on but took a couple of heavy blows that saw him eventually being subbed. Semenyo was little involved but very effective when he is. Everyone else who started was about par.

Foden and Harland have become the invisible men.

We're still miles off where we need to be but boy did we need that win. Great debut fir Guehi and at least we showed some bollocks and fight after two cowardly performances. We really could do with Nico G back and Haaland and Foden finding some form again.

Missed it today. Was it signs of improvement? Or same old but just with Foden and Haaland not starting?

He needs to stay on the bench - the same as any other squad player would putting in the performances he has over the last 6 weeks.

Foden, this season has been finding out what life is like without KDB for the team
100% Foden can be a game-changer, but the demand to do it every game is still not there, also little injuries and a dip in form and fitness doesnt help.

Foden is a world-class player and will find a way to handle the pressure and stand out again

I really enjoyed the first half. Good to play with 11 men for a change.
Marmoush offers so much more. Great goal , getting in front of the defenders rather than waiting at the far post. His movement out wide created more space centrally for others.
Stick with him midweek.
Guehi looks a bargain.

Never said it wasn’t but it still wasn’t on target. It was a great effort but second half Sa didn’t have a save to make. That’s not controversial pal it’s just what happened.
I think you are well aware of what I was pointing out, to most folks a shot hitting the bar or post is on target or close as dammit. Yes, maybe ;-)

Thank the lord it was wolves.

That was poor.

We are so unfit, we can’t sustain any kind of tempo.

It’s a strange thing watching us almost fall asleep on the job.

The game itself..

Semenyo has to play on the left, if you pay 60m for a player, play him in his favoured position. Especially if he’s better than what we have.

Khus has all the right physical attributes but his decision making has to improve in time.

One bright spot for me, was the wild celebrations at blocking a tackle at the end, that’s a sign they do care, even if the quality isn’t there.

Onwards and upwards.

I'm not saying he won't and to be fair, he was involved in the only decent attack we had all second half with a nice pass to Semenyo but he was deservedly dropped for today and personally I thought we looked better without him.
