Seat Counters 25/26

Personally, I think I’d rather go back to a 47k stadium with a high demand and people clamouring for tickets, rather than this casual approach we have now. The club as we know are obsessed with matchday revenue and they see stadium growth as a way to achieve it, but I’m not sure we’re ready for it.

There’s definitely too much football these days - one extra CL group game, potentially a play off and the pointless second leg of the League Cup semi (would be much better as a one off tie). Not a great recipe for sell outs when everything suggests the passion from our fanbase is on the wane.
 
There is a huge fan base out there. Several combinations but the pricing is too high in my opinion. I moved to Northern Ireland last year and have suffered ill health recently although managed to get to most weekend games. Surprisingly the numbers from Ireland and young children astounds me. Coming home last night the only domestic flights were to Dublin, Cork and Belfast and I estimate around 300-400 blues. I don’t think many will get to the night games though

Well it’s isn’t so pointless opinion! It’ll be 61k in a few months and the big games will sell out! What will happens if there is supply demand? Yep tickets prices goes up..

Once we became successful a lot of people had to stop moaning. The culture has to change. Now most expect 3-0 4-0 wins.

Generations move on too. The fight to get to and get out of the stadium starts to become too much to bother with for more elderly supporters. I think as blokes approach their 70’s, the majority just cba and enjoy it on Sky more.

Somebody made a great observation yesterday that City have not lost an FA Cup game outside of Wembley for 8 years, so it's only natural that anyone under the age of 20 views the competition completely different to my generation who lived through the 35 year trophy famine.

Its also true that my generation are now in their 60s and whilst I'm still fit enough to walk, and occasionally run, to Piccadilly post match, that won't always be the case.

There are thousands like me and the day we start having to rely on the post match tram will be the day we stop attending

It's a good point he makes though.

City could've spent the last few years pricing games in order to create excess demand making tickets hard to get.

This is something that would make our brand so much more attractive than seeing empty seats every game, but making an extra few peanuts.

This method also would've ensured we maintained high attendances even when we hit a rough patch.
 
This seems to be the best place to ask.
I have a season ticket downloaded to my phone. I am not in the League Cup or Champs League schemes.
My wallet is showing my next match is Newcastle in the Cup. (I purchased the ticket ages ago)
I have an email from City confirming I have bought a Galatasary (sp) ticket and it shows in my tickets section of City's site, it even mentions I can transfer it.
Please tell me what I've done wrong and how I get it into my wallet on my phone.

One game ban for swearing ;)

Apparently it doesn't matter if the next game is showing in your wallet, others on here have said in the past that it 'just knows' and you can bleep into the ground as normal.

Matchday bus, free with a bus pass.
Not that I have one, not old enough.

The bloke I sit with swears by them.

Yeah the Matchday Bus has been a great addition and I use it occasionally for the CL games

However my typical weekend match routine has always included 3-4 pints with the same people, some of whom I've known since the early 70s

I'm not sacrificing that friendship and camaraderie just for a free bus.

Fair enough, but not for now, it's for when you reach the point of needing public transport.

Some good points there. What % of the ground is made up of supporters in their 60s or above would you say now? I’m not sure I could put a figure on it, but I’d say it’s significant (as well as on this forum).

It will be interesting if any concessions or changes are made in any way to the matchday experience going forward which take account of that.. or as you say, supporters may just stop attending sooner than they might otherwise. One of those queue-jump tram passes might be something I’d look to get when I reach that point.
 
If someone had said to me back in the late 2000s that City would have a vital CL game and League Cup semi final but fail to sell out I wouldn't have believed them.

We might have had bigger and better things on a consistent basis but there is no way that we should be struggling to sell these two games out in a City of our size. The club need to sort this out, we don't want a Spanish model of making a fortune from hospitality and sacrificing empty seats to get it.

It's our club and we want people who love it there.

Tickets remaining for League Cup Semi-Final 2nd Leg v Newcastle. 10 days to go until the game and selling about a couple of hundred tickets a day. Likely about 9000 empty seats for it - attendance of about 43k as Newcastle will have sold out their 6,500 allocation

Anecdotally and judging mainly from those who sit around me in 119, I would guess that around 15-20% are 60+
This demographic are nearly all hardcore and would only have been in their mid 30s when City were playing at Macclesfield etc.
However the numbers are only going in one direction

Tickets available for Champions League game on Wednesday against Galatasary.

Level 0: 1,259

Level 3: Non are available - all greyed out.

Total: 2,972 tickets currently available (several areas on the planner have been greyed out i.e. CB Level 3, South Stand Level 3 and East Stand Level 3 - so this total figure is only a rough guide).

The club definitely aren't helping here with their ticketing policies - Galatasaray excepted as the restrictions for that one are understandable - but regarding League Cup semis, we've often not sold them out. In fact, since the takeover the only one that I can recall being a sell out was the semi-final against United in 2010. We've actually had some crowds far worse than what the Newcastle attendance will be next week:

2009/10 - United. Att: 46,067 (Capacity was around 47,000 at the time but was classed as a sell out due to segregation, etc, reducing capacity
2011/12 - Liverpool. Att: 36,017
2013/14 - West Ham. Att: 30,381 (Interestingly, there were only 31,547 at the Sunderland v United semi the night before)
2015/16 - Everton. Att: 50,048
2017/18 - Bristol City. Att: 43,426
2018/19 - Burton Albion. Att: 32,089
2019/20 - United. Att: 51,000 (United didn't sell out the first leg either)
