Media discussion - 2025/26

Are they? The first 3 comments that were made on HYS when the article was first published were questioning impartiality and are still there. As are many others including mine. The removed comment was someone posting that we don't deserve support because we're cheats, I know because I read it earlier.

I had 3 reasonable comments removed which were later reinstated, so yes they were definitely removing critical BBC comments. It's very unusual to allow any comments critical of their reporting to remain.

more bullshit about our club. This is written for utd and Liverpool fans.

I don't know any other PL club that constantly gets reported on this way
I don't normally click on or comment on these articles as it gives them oxygen they don't deserve but they couldn't be allowed to get away with this one. I expect my comment will be removed as they'll claim it breaks house rules meanwhile they post negative shit about my club at every opportunity. Ban the fucking BBC.

Wouldn't ban them, hopefully shit like this will galvanise us, it has before.
What does piss me off is the thought that anyone pays for a tv licence. If you don't like them, defund them.

I see the ref, the one doing his first ever PL match, the one that was very brave, the one that every media outlet has praised .............
Isn't doing a PL match this weekend.
Dropped ! No never. On what grounds?

Because he is no doubt traumatised for " being brave " and because Pep has reduced him to a crumbling wreck and suffering from PTSD ?

Not because he didn't give the penalty, which the media have decreed as being " brave", but possibly because he gave a yellow card for the attack on Doku's achilles tendon, when clearly a red card was the correct punishment.

But more senior officials are also guilty of similar failures surely - as witnessed in the recent rags game with Dallot's attack on Docu's knee.

Howard Webb and acolytes, rather than admit that their referee/VAR officials are either incompetent or corrupt, simply removes the referee from games.

So the speculation and secrecy surrounding PGMOL continues, and nothing is ever done to demonstrate the transparency of their actions.

PGMOL and their employer, the PL hierarchy once again combine to maintain exactly what they want to achieve ?

Morning.
Don't be surprised by any negative articles anymore. We are in the title race, we are still going for 4 trophies . The term journalism died a long time ago. Negative stories about us generate income, clicks etc. City are and always will be in the firing line because we are successful. Embrace it, once you do you will not let it bother you. Remember who their target audience are? Red top supporters.
It just feeds the myth about us as a club.
A smear campaign which our club seems to accept.
We've gone from being the pantomime fool ( idiotic but harmless) to the pantomime villain (hiss boo hiss ). Wouldn't change it for a minute .

Millions pay for a tv licence and it funds the BBC producing click bait for Red tops like this. That's an abuse of the licence fee. Or maybe it's aimed at all Galatasary fans around the world ? Do they post anything positive about City ? Extremely rarely.

Not just the BBC...
Don't mind that article really.
It's not just about Gala and is also reflecting the improvement in the national teams form.
Would love to visit Istanbul and attend a football match.
My Stoke City supporting mate went to their Euro cup away game at Beskistas (I think ?).
He said it was an amazing atmosphere, feeling intimidated though and relieved Stoke didn't win...

It's all about timing.

The press will be all over this....

Actually, Sky have covered it online although they're blaming Pep for destroying a promising career.

The issue I have is there aren’t many similar articles on the upcoming opponents for Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea or Newcastle. Similarly the commentators on TNT don’t gush when other sides are losing.

We seem to exist in a strange space, an English club side loathed by the English media whenever we play in Europe. Personally I dislike the pretence that there is a good will among English supporters to all English clubs in Europe but there’s no such pretence in our case.

It' also unusual (unheard of?) to have comments reinstated, how did that come about?
