Seat Counters 25/26

How many people will be put off going to a half empty soulless experience, I imagine loads, going to the match isn't just the game, it's the crowd, the atmosphere, the buzz, the club have systematically killed our support, quite remarkable on the back of our success
Soriano doesn’t care. He didn’t care at Barcelona either.

He wants to point at a spreadsheet and tell our owners he’s taken our matchday revenue from £78m to £100m and we’re catching up to th rest of the top 6.

He doesn’t care what the place looks like or what it will be when he’s no longer there.

Grow the core. More season tickets please. Let family sit together.
The only way to do that is to give them access as soon as tickets go on sale otherwise you get odd seats or pairs which doesn't help a group of four or five. People will often move seats to accommodate kids but the cup scheme means many seats are already taken. It could have been done on Wednesday night with so few attending but that was pretty much a one-off.
Unreserved seating in some areas might be a way forward, it seemed to work when I was a regular in the old Platt Lane Stand from 1969 t0 1971, but more recently I was told this can only be done by reducing capacity.

Fucking hell you would think there was a death in the family going off some of the comments on here, grow some BALLS !

I was thinking along similar lines this morning. I thought it was a cracking 2 nil win. Then walking away from the ground, hanging on updates from people’s phones / radios, brought back distant memories of walking away from Maine Road and trying to find out the final scores of promotion rivals games.

The atmosphere made by the Gala fans (not idiots throwing flares) added to the occasion.

It was a shame the old school Blues stand, South Stand Level 3, was pretty empty but you can’t have it all.

There are too many games but we’ve also been spoilt beyond belief.

The negativity is off the scale on here, "empty seats, sack all the decision makers at City, shit football, i'm jacking my season ticket" etc etc fucking loons and entitled cunts...

This thread has morphed into an echo chamber with the same posters making the same points based mainly on their own anecdotal evidence

My own theory (and I might be way off the mark) is that a large proportion of City's support fall into two categories:

1/ 55+ and their kids (who were never given a choice)

2/ Young families and supporters born after 2000

The traditional PL support has increased and will continue to increase
However, for completely different reasons both demographics are less interested in midweek matches
So I am 52 with the following...
3 x kids of my own aged 25, 16 and 13
1 x foster child aged 15.

I don't think the age demographic is a thing but I have previously stated I just feel like I am only going for one reason and that is until my youngest is old enough to go on his own with his eldest brother.
For me juggling shifts for 30yrs, and having other stuff to do now has made it less important than it used to be however I will never let my season tickets go. Cup schemes will be FA Cup only next season (but then again I always seem to join c.league aswell).
Football has changed it really has. There is simply to much of it now and the expansion of the c.league is simply a money making scheme.

I also reflected on our fortnight from hell when we’ve won four out of six games and remain competitive in four competitions. Even the shocker against Bodo has a bit more context after they beat Athletico away.

Absolutely.

If somebody had said to us in August - by the start of Feb youll be 2nd in the league 4pts off top; in the league cup semi final with a 2-0 1st leg lead and the 2nd leg at home; safely through in the top 8 of the CL so into the last 16 with no playoff round; into the 4th round of the FA Cup and a home tie vs Salford - youd have absolutely snapped their hands off.

2nd Leg at home next week and a chance to get back to a Wembley Cup Final - against a good Newcastle side in what will be a decent game - and the club are charging £30 in large parts of the ground. Im not sure what you can blame them for on that one really. Theyve got a ton wrong but re the Newcastle 2nd leg, Im not sure the pricing is that out of whack. Id wager those crooks at the "hated, adored, not playing abroad" place in Trafford would be charging somewhere near the £50 mark for the same game.

Fans asking "is it still 3-2?" on the way out, then Madrid being the last game to finish, thinking, they're going to play till Madrid score, then Benfica scored instead. Good night. (But I wasn't near the Gala fans.)

Spot on Lee. The rags would charge £50 and the tickets would be compulsory purchase.

As far as I’m concerned, if we end up with 5K spares for the Newcastle 2nd leg, City can dish out the tickets for free to local schools and colleges.

Yes City can improve plenty of things, and there was more poor stewarding in my area if the ground on Wednesday, but some fans don’t know that they were born!

I had a couple of Gala fans next to me but I marked my territory as soon as I arrived at my seat by blasting out “Blue Moon” and “We’re not really here.” They were good as gold.

Every season we get folks who are “thinking” of jacking it in at the end of the season, I often wonder how many actually do.

Unfortunately, a number of posters jacked in their season cards after a disenfranchised Mod campaigned against the Tunnel Club replacing existing seats. It was clearly a sensitive issue but the Blues who chose to jack it in have missed the greatest years in our history.

Yeah ,some want cheap cheap tickets but also want to watch world class players on huge salaries.
There is obviously room for improvement but have to be mindful of the rules we,re continually fighting against.

True he doesn’t care. Our Directors are ruthless business people.

Contrast that with Swales who genuinely cared.

Agree mate, i think the empty seats will actually help the pricing structure for next year

I don't think they understand football fans. So I don't think they have deliberately and systematically set out to damage the atmosphere, but it is a consequence of pricing, and things like season tickets.
