The Labour Government

I don't see why ' u turns' are a bad thing. At least the govt are listening.
They aren't and you're correct but sadly for Starmer he's on record for giving the tories grief when they did it so unfortunately once again he's left himself wide open.

I'm beginning to think he's not as smart as he thinks he is and any qualifications he has were bought on a back street market in Thailand.

* nothing wrong with that btw, I'm a pilot, boat captain and have a law degree thanks to said markets.. :-)

My version is OBVIOUSLY the truth.

1. Mauritius has NEVER owned the Chagos Islands
2. Chagos is 1000+ miles from Mauritius. IIRC it's nearer to the Maldives and the Seychelles
3. The court ruling was ADVISORY and has no legal bearing upon us whatsoever
4. Where is the Chargassian's preferences in all this. Why does Starmer say the future of Greenland MUST be entirely up to the Greenlanders, whereas the Chargassian's can just suck it up?
5. Why are we PAYING vast sums to hand over OUR island? For Fucks Sake. We should be charging THEM.
6. Mauritius has close ties with China yet under the proposed agreement, we would have to notify them of planned military activities - a serious security risk.

No mate, the evidence is clear. Starmer is extremely keen to act NOT in the interests of the United Kingdom. Given his former Trotskyte mindset, I would not even be shocked if it transpires he's in the pocket of China.

If his motivations were the best interests of the UK then OBVIOUSLY he would be delighted to see the Chagos deal scrapped. Any patriot would.
Fucking 'patriot'...
That's one deep hole your down.

I agree it’s right to change course if you think you've got it wrong. When you do it so many times though the there are inevitable questions about your judgment in the first place. Also raises questions about integrity - saying things to get votes knowing you probably won’t do then - cf the WASPI women.

No, I am supportive of us not paying another country to take our own sovereign property off us. Der.

And regards the rest of your post, you clearly cannot counter any of my points with any actual argument. QED.

I find it amusing that the various Starmer / Labour apologists on here tie themselves in such knots trying to endlessly defend the indefensible.

Just on this one topic for example, a legally binding commitment we have we the US to *not* sell Chagos should be ignored; a court with no legal jurisdiction over us, their opinion *must* be obeyed. The people of Chagos can have *no say* in which nation they should be part of; the people of Greenland should be *the only* people who should decide who they should be part of.

Such nonsense is commonplace on here when you try to defend lunacy.

Even putting all of this lunacy aside, why on earth have we agreed to PAY Mauritius in order to give them something? Even if I accept that we should hand Mauritius over (which clearly we do not) it is at the very least incompetent and piss poor negotiation.
But we don’t have a legally binding commitment not to sell.

He was going to keep the policy of scrapping student loans as well.

How many?

Or is this another baseless comment?
Unfortunately, Private Eye no longer run their Late Paying Councillors interactive map. And I should add that, as a councillor myself, you'll be pleased to know that I have never featured on it!

Oh look labour might be considering a (shock) Corbyn policy of universal basic income.

It seems the greedy bastards who want to make themselves richer are investing in AI systems to replace millions of workers and there's a potential time bomb of mass job losses putting a huge strain on the benefits systems.

Capitalism is great if your rich yeah.

They could try doing their homework and listening to people before they announce stuff, I mean once or twice fair enough but its a bloody pandemic of u turns. Do you really need to be told adding 10's of thousands of pounds to business rates on pubs might not be a great idea?
I mean we pay good money to Prime Ministers and cabinet ministers and they seem to be completely out of touch with real life.
I mean everyone on here would look at the figures and think well thats gonna decimate pubs in this country.

'incompetent to the hilt' and the meaning of those four words sums him up completely

being completely, utterly or totally incapable and lacking ability in the highest possible degree

Chippers, one of your points is the proximity between Chagos and Mauritius. I couldn’t be arsed countering it for obvious reasons.

Legal precedents get set regularly. It’s also nothing to do with the US , about whether we give empirical land away, as they supported it originally. I thought you’d have wanted us to be sovereign and make our own decisions?

Why do you think we have had to pay something on the negotiations?

Funnily enough, once you’re very rich, selective socialism is then what you advocate for!

Another Labour rongen!
I wonder who he will blame as it’s always somebody else’s fault according to this Motley Crew.
Tik Tok..

He's investigating himself, don't worry.
