Seat Counters 25/26

The issue for Newcastle fundamentally is price!

It’s £30-£50 tickets. That’s crazy for a cup game (we have never really smashed attendances for EFL cup semis - even going back to playing Liverpool over a decade ago).

If tickets ranged from £20-£40 instead it would probably add another 10k-15k to the attendance.

20 quid like newcastle charged would have been plenty, unfortunately our powers that be only see pound signs, if it is looking like a deserted stadium again, i am not bothering, the experience is crap, may as well sit at home, if the club are not bothered why should we.

I get what you’re saying, but trying to get to Buxton after any night game has always been a pain in the arse. The majority of people on that train are getting off in hazel grove and before that in my experience

If you live that far away you probably should expect to be getting home quite late on public transport - not that it’s right by the way
Fuck me mate

I could literally name you more than 50 City supporters living in Whaley Bridge and 3 of them were in Bodo, as their points are so high

Don't ever apply for a job in Public Relations as you'd be shit at it.

I’m in hazel grove currently and regularly get that train and the later one back. I wasn’t on about how many city fans are in those areas, I’m on about how many people get off the train. Unless I’m going blind most people aren’t staying on until Buxton..

Fuck me, it’s a general observation about a train journey you mentioned that I take regularly. No need to get so offended haha

So I am 52 with the following...
3 x kids of my own aged 25, 16 and 13
1 x foster child aged 15.

I don't think the age demographic is a thing but I have previously stated I just feel like I am only going for one reason and that is until my youngest is old enough to go on his own with his eldest brother.
For me juggling shifts for 30yrs, and having other stuff to do now has made it less important than it used to be however I will never let my season tickets go. Cup schemes will be FA Cup only next season (but then again I always seem to join c.league aswell).
Football has changed it really has. There is simply to much of it now and the expansion of the c.league is simply a money making scheme.
There is only too much because for us, we are too good.
Cup runs every year.

Look at the Rags for example, 2 cup games all season, only 1 at home, they are desperate for some of the games we have.

It can all change so quickly.

Secondly, you're 52 ffs not 92.

If you stop going you won't go back.

You must enjoy going with your family?

Harsh reality, as they grow into adults, footy will probably be the only thing you do with them!

controversial, but i thought the galatasary attendance was shit and tha anticipated poor semi attendance for the geordies is shit too. Major champs league game and fans cudnt be arsed to go, cup semi final and and ditto. Too many excuses.
Some truths.

I'll admit, I cancelled CL Cup scheme about 3 years ago.

A financial decision but also the pfaff of night matches after work.
I did however, divert the money into taking my lad and now we have a Flexi Gold and he goes to all league, FA and this season the League Cup games.

I remain in the domestic Cup schemes and literally never miss any domestic home game.

What I dont understand is people paying for tickets and not going, weird.

I agree. I was disappointed. Didn't expect a sell out with the prices but expected more. Hopefully the club will review. I just think there are too many games now particularly if you get home draws etc.

Correct, some genuine part timers in our fanbase now. If it was another club, I’d say it was shit support, so the same has to be said for us. It’s hard to defend the extent of the decline that we’re seeing it this season.

They did. But ultimately they’ve lost out with the loss of more ticket sales, more drink and food sales, more merchandise sales, more hospitality sales, more car parking revenue, etc. That’s why I can’t get my head around their thinking. It just baffles me.

Completely agree. Its illogical but you see companies/organisations act in this way all the time. Even Governments sign contracts which results in all the investment leaving the place of origin. Seems crazy but it happens all the time.

In my opinion, that Leverkusen game has come back to bite the club on the arse in more ways than one. The crowd that night was 50,500 with probably no more than 2,000 Bayer fans.
This was 25th Nov on a dank and cold night. Pep fielded a reserve eleven and if BM is anything to go by, a lot of folks were fuming and basically said fuck midweek games. Now I’m not saying it’s only down to that but you can only piss people off so many times, especially folk who have a long journey, need to take time off work etc etc.
That's bollocks mate.

You're blaming Pep, who is managing a squad with injuries in 4 competitions, for low take up of tickets since.

Pep's decision, however unpopular at the time had been vindicated. We went on a long winning run after and qaulified automatically in CL.

The issue, and only issue is the difficilty in buying tickets by casual fans and, archaic rules for passing your ticket on to a mate.

Unless you have a Season Ticket (which they haven't sold new ones for a few years btw) it's a fucking pain getting tickets to watch City.

Going is a habit. There was a time I used to try and go to every away game. Met some top fellas off this forum along the way too. Haven’t been away since Covid now and having kids.

Once you fall out the habit you don’t tend to go back. I can’t remember a time before I didn’t go to Maine Road, some of my earliest memories of my life are there, and I’ve been a season ticket holder ever since but once I stop, that will be it I think.

The club have driven away regulars. For many they’ve seen all they want to see (City win the biggest prizes) and the insane match-day prices, the additional fee to be a “matchday member” and the increasing difficulty with transferring tickets, has driven loads away.

Tons of lads I came of age with who took advantage of the £95 season tickets in the 2000s, gave it up 2-3 years ago and no longer go.

It’s tragic.

I went versus Galatasaray, but it was touch and go, I had a ticket but couldn’t be arsed.
Newcastle next week and Salford will be a similar turnout,
I’m fast falling out with football at the top table, prices, KO times and days, VAR, amateur dramatics from players on the pitch, the inconsistency with officiating and VAR, daft rules, it’s a fuckin circus.
We have enough fans to fill that stadium 10 times over, but they don’t turn up.
The club has got to start opening their eyes and ask themselves why.
If match-day ticket revenue formulates such a small percentage of annual revenue, then make cheaper, like German football.
And, we need to help young fans in getting tickets together, my son would love to go with his mates, instead of sitting with his grumpy Dad and his mates, who’ve been watching them for over 50 years.
The club is actively alienating fans, particularly season ticket holders, who can’t give their seat to another season ticket holder for example,
If you look at sales for Newcastle right now, you can only buy in L0 and L1, because they want it to look full, leaving fewer fans in L2.
Just leave it all open for sale FFS.
I’ve not bought for Salford yet, will I, don’t know yet, I’ve lost the feeling of having lost a leg if I miss a game, that is really sad to say and, I know many others like me, at a time when were successful on the pitch too, what’s that all about?!
Your point about only being able to buy in the lower tiers highlights something worrying.
As you say the club want to make it look full......for the cameras and those sat at home. That shows they do care about empty seats. The worrying thing is they don't know how to address it !
What happens if a family of 4 want to buy but find there arent 4 together in the available seats. The fact there 5,000 available in CB3 or wherever is not being offered and so little Johnny doesn't get his night out.

Further, does anyone know if the club are allowed to store details of previous multiple purchases ? The ticket office could contact the head person (dad) and offer him a deal.

You are right on pretty much everything apart from 1 thing, I actually will never stop going.
I love.going with my kids but there will come a tme where it will stop. Only missed 2 aways this season in league which are so much fun.
I totally get the fact we have more games as we are one of the best teams but the expanded c.league is bollocks imo.
Right I'm off to buy 2 for Geordies at home.:-)

I’ve been to most home games in the last 20 years but usually when I decided not to go and we were on the telly, I always felt I should’ve been there. I didn’t get that feeling at all on Wednesday, I was glad I was at home and I will be at home next Wednesday night too and will miss the Fulham game as I am unable to go to that one. Maybe it’s the beginning of the end for me, who knows?

Hopefully not. Probably not.
wow your not really here enjoy your tv

Bang on post. We also dont have hordes of plastics to take up the slack. Our ticketing strategy has been a disgrace for several years and plenty saw this coming a mile off.

Like you, a load of my pals just dont bother even trying to go anymore. For multiple reasons already discussed here. Heads need to roll in our ticketing department...
