Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

Not the Rodders thread, but interesting reading. Much as I love the fella, if a big money offer comes in I think you have to have a serious think about it. Anderson would be an excellent start in plugging the hole he would leave.
I think Anderson comes regardless of Rodri’s situation

According to this source, Bernardo, Stones, Ake, Kovačić, and Ortega take home a combined, staggering £950,000 per week?. Aside from Bernardo, we have to ask: how much has each of them actually contributed to the team this season—not in goals or assists, but in minutes played?

By clearing these five salaries next summer, they could afford Anderson and even another midfielder on top of that.

But thats a miracle
Don't see anybody who wants to buy Kova or Ake.

by the end of the year Ake will only have 3M left amortisation, we can let him go very cleaply and hence there will be interest. Kovacic is still a decent player and again only 6M left on his contract value

I don’t know what to think about Kovacic. He was a useful player in his first season, but since then, he’s been constantly injured. We already have too much dead weight on the payroll who aren't playing at all. It would be better to sell him for any amount in the summer of 2026 than to wait for his contract to expire in 2027. In that year, maybe Nypan or some other younger and healthier midfielder could already be integrated into the team

Who realistically would spend more than £50 million on him? Saudi is the only place I could see bidding enough. Madrid, Athletico, Barca, PSG, Bayern wouldn't touch him. Cant see anyone in the PL spending big money on him and everyone in Italy is skint
Don’t know where you’re pulling the 50m figure from mate?

Saudi will be the shout.

Think Kova and Gvardiol come as a pair

He can’t even get a start for Boro. Nonsense to believe on that evidence that he is anywhere near good enough (yet, maybe?) to play for us
I never said he was good enough but if we are proposing bringing him back and not sending him out to another club there is no reason why he cannot be included in the squad if there is a place available.
I'm not proposing he replaces a fit or returning Kovacic but if Gvardiol/ Kovacic/ Stones are out gor the remainder of the season, why not use that space.
I'm guessing he is at Mukasa/ Gray standard
