Seat Counters 25/26

Some great posts on here, the clubs hierarchy need a injection of common sense. They don't listen to fans, they should read this forum. Unfortunately the main people are probably surroundedby yes people. Sycophants..
The possibilities with the new extension of the north stand are great where multiplefamilies and friends have the chance to sit together. Where is the information on any of this. I gave up my seasonticket 3 years ago, having had it for 18 years.
I want one again next season but I want to sit with my 2 sons and 3 grandkids, we'd all be new seasonticket holders. We want to sit in the north stand.. can anyone advise me on my options.. thanks.

No new season tickets are being issued, they will be releasing 4000 flexi season tickets but it's likely they will be sold based on previous attendance criteria.

I think it does and it doesn’t. The so called big games there plenty of tourists, but for games against the likes of Exeter, Newcastle, Brighton or some of the champions league games the tourists aren’t showing up. So we’re relying on locals/ our core fanbase - who already feel alienated or priced out
The midweek Cup games are poorly attended by a large number of seasoncard holders. We've historically had this 'problem'. We had it at Maine Road, and at COMs when it was opened.

When the midweek Cup game is a glamour tie more seasoncard holders will show, and Matchday fans naturally pick the big games and we can get full-houses e.g., Leverkusen in the CL. When the Cup tie is not so attractive, we are down to our core fanbase.

A lot of people split the matchday fanbase into 'locals' and 'tourists' but I don't know how anyone can work out the origins of fans unless they work in the ticket office know. I don't know. On occasion it's obvious but generally it isn't. I am not sure it is useful to do this.

Two things we can do:

1) With the new stand we can sell season tickets to the matchday fans. The Ticket Office know who they are. If many are local then once they are regulars, they might be more inclined to go to the midweek games, particularly the Cup games.

2) Freeze or lower seasoncard prices so that we don't lose more of our core fanbase and they are less pressured.

I think a lot of City fans are annoyed with the club's ticketing strategy. Since the takeover, we have had the opportunity to build up a large base of season ticket holders, Man Utd have > 60,000, but instead City have gone for the more lucrative matchday fans. When you have KDB, Aguero and David Silva, and you are winning the clubs first silverware, it was less of a problem. Fall off a little, or when fans get satiated by success, and older and poorer, then it becomes a problem.

In the Summer, they did reduce prices. Is this a one-off, or a sign of change to come? IMO to fill that new stand, they will have to add a lot of seasoncards, and they will have to reduce prices.

They’re absolute stupid cunts, I don’t want to see it but it’ll serve them right when the north stand is empty

You don’t think anything is City’s fault. You don’t think charging 80% more than Newcastle did from the 1st leg is affecting sales, you don’t think charging a minimum of £53 for league games is affecting attendances. You don’t think the membership cost of £35 is stopping causal fans from going to the odd game and bumping crowds up. You don’t think the restrictions on ticket transfers is making fans have enough. You don’t think doubling the Salford ticket price is affecting interest.

Is there anything City do you’ll criticise?

I honestly think you work for the club.

spot on

Is our fanbase that fickle?
I don't think we're necessarily fickle, but the new CL format has definitely diluted the jeopardy, and ironically it would have been reduced even further if Pep had gone strong, and we'd beaten Leverkusen comfortably

There were other issues specifically affecting the Galatasaray attendance and yet we've got some posters (who didn't even attend themselves) judging everything through the prism of this week's experience

The fact of the matter is that regardless of the distractions from the scores at the other games, City were always going to qualify for either the Last 16 or the Play Off Round.

Ultimately the next fixture was always going to be more important, and barring stupid prices or ridiculous ticket restrictions (and the club have got form for both) I would envisage a more respectable attendance, just as Arsenal and Tottenham will both enjoy bigger crowds than what they experienced for their last home group match.

Incidentally I was there on Wednesday, and also the Brentford Carabao Quarter Final, and no way was there a bigger attendance at the latter

That seems OK. Previously we had a waiting list, and we'd have a good idea in advance if it would work. Now, we don't know whether it's feasible to get 4,000 extra flexi season tickets.

Increasing seasoncard numbers probably is not going to solve the midweek Cup attendance problem.

im not pointing fingers....... but a lot of the recent unpopular decisions by the club seem seem to have happened since Roul De Vries joined the club , but the higher ups have always had a habit of pissing off the fans
Any club would chase the cash after a treble - but surely there has to be a plan to ensure you don’t lose sight of the core business.

Red 2 Hats listed above a load of the issues that are the cause of loads of long term blues sacking off games - but whether it’s De Vries or others, so much more could and should have been done.

It’s so easy to engage with supporters and see what would improve matters but there is zero interest from the club.

Truly bizarre behaviour - especially when surely many boardroom arses must be twitching about the 9000 seat white elephant they look at every home match !

We do have a waiting list, we should be selling as many season tickets at an affordable price as possible, and bollocks to this “flexi” crap.

Getting people in the habit of going to games will absolutely help with midweek crowds, especially if you solve it by significantly discounting cup tickets for season ticket holders.

Agree with you, but I was really answering the post about fans crying off because Pep picked a team that lost a game.

We don't have a waiting list.

You'd like to think that they would have a strategy in place to maintain and grow the fan base. It just seems all over the show at the moment, with various hurdles and obstacles regularly being put in the way.
They had a strategy. But that strategy was to milk fans dry (not unlike other clubs), and that has pissed a lot of people off. Everything is hard work now even getting a ticket. Everything is expensive even if you can jump thru all the hoops put in the way. Cant transfer tickets with ease, so that can only be a negative when it comes to bums on seats. Sitting together with family, kids or friends is nigh on impossible, even with a brand new stand with the opportunity that gave us. How is any of that in the long term good of the club?

Sold out but then loads didn't bother going.
So essentially we've got some supporters not attending the Newcastle game because it's too expensive, whilst some cup scheme members didn't attend the Exeter game because it was too cheap and they could afford to take the hit.

Takes me back to my working days when I used to deal with demographics and price elasticity on a daily basis.

I thought it was a case of several thousand enquiring about season tickets and being offered flexi?
There might be people enquiring but there isn't a waiting list you can join. There was one a few years ago, you paid a £100(?) Deposit to join, but it was cancelled and everyone refunded.

I'm in agreement. The ticket transfer situation is silly and prohibitive at the same time. This new stand is going to be very interesting as well. Supporters and supporter groups alike all vying for the opportunity to be situated there.

We don't know which ticket holders didn't turn up for the Exeter game. Only that there were plenty of spaces.
I used to buy lots of flights to Spain for a tenner, then decide nearer the time which ones I would be using. The same last season v Salford, lots didn't bother though it was sold out.
I always think of the packet of ciggies when the club sell cheap tickets, and the number of people smoking them near the Spirals.

The low midweek cup crowds are not just a pricing problem, they are a tech problem. You need to be able to buy and transfer tickets to nonseason card holders readily. It might be possible but it looks challenging. I haven't tried it. I am put off by all the bad messaging.
