Media discussion - 2025/26

I've thought and posted the same for years. It's uncanny how often one of them mention something and then coincidentally it's often used as the rationale for a decision.

Two that really spring to mind are 1) Shearer in last years cup final - Henderson that's not a red and 2) perfectly good Phil goal chalked off at Dippers 2023 for a supposed shirt pull by Erl on a Dipper about a minute before- apparently 'interferening' with play. Forgot who the ref was but Neville mentions the shirt pull and what a surprise goal chalked off. This may have been same game when Milner was fouling like fcek, getting away with all sorts and ref let it g0 z was probably Oliver or Alty can't quite recall.

So yes, I'm convinced commentary pundits influence Stockley Park decisions.
I'm pretty sure it was Alty that let Milner off a barn door second yellow, amongst others

Yup I noticed that, the commentary team can also see the results of VAR before we do. Frustrates me becuase depending on who the pundit is we get HIS impression.

I didnt know VAR use images from the broadcasters, I thought they had their own high speed cameras etc.
I understand they get the footage from the broadcast feed but also have their own equipment for analysis.

The one that sticks in my head is the Rashford offside at the swamp. Every pundit jumped on it saying the goal should stand, giving every reason for it to stand.
Still is the worst discission I have ever seen. Phase 2 was brainwashing TV viewers that the correct discission had been made.

Web in his tv stint talking about referees said it should have been called offside but if you look at the actual rules you could give it!

In the same game they had their DM, whom Haaland fouled, get away with two yellows and should have been off, one was a studs up challenge that was either let off or the foul that got the yellow and he had another that was let off earlier, though the studs up should have been a red alone.

Ffs now we have another red working for the bbc Steve Bruce who isn’t gonna give a honest opinion other than say how great they are

Sick of Neville commentating on our games
Don’t usually watch on Sky due to the likes of Neville having a downer on everything we do. Thought I’d check it out today and wish I hadn’t. Never mind the fans being miserable, he was worse than them from the off.

Then you have the half arsed cheer from the anchor, following them all going overboard for the red tops, which makes you understand that they have absolutely zero interest in our club (and about 15 other ones).

We are but an afterthought. So glad we’ve fucked over their ‘entertainment’ for so many years.

They don't use high speed cameras capable of doing the job, which is why you never can get absolute accurate decisions on offside. If an attacking player comes with speed there could be a difference in about half a meter from a frame til the next with the cameras they use. It's shameless but i guess the reason is that they prefer to have controll of the outcome of the game.

Ok, so as far as I can understand after watching MotD, "we" don't mind the VAR re-refereeing the game to give a throw in that the on-field referee missed 20seconds before a goal, but "we" also don't want the VAR re-refereeing the game to give a foul that resulted in a goal; oh, and all the penalties that have been given for a defender kicking through an attacker were wrongly given because "we" want common sense decisions such as an attacker kicking through a defender in order to score a goal.

Phew, I'm so glad they've cleared up what "we" all want.

Remind me again, how much per year is it that they want me to pay them to lie to me in this manner?

Corrupt game, corrupt organisation.

Imagine if they used the same technology to decide close finish horse races? Every one would be a dead heat after ten minutes of deliberation.

This is what giving an interview like he did does. It gives the media a free pass to use the quotes exactly as they want their readers to interpret it. Naive from both Rodri and Pep IMO. Yes us fans can fume and mouth of, but as a paid employee and representative of the club, words should be chosen carefully, or just not said if emotions are running high

The VAR team get their images from the broadcasters. It’s never been made clear how the communication works though the TV team can hear the VAR discussions. But the paying customers are excluded. It does smell a bit.
This is the only next step if VAR is to continue. All dialogue should be broadcast live to the stadium and tv audience as they do in both rugby disciplines, cricket, etc.

The media seize upon any opportunity, but even if they didn't exist, you may have missed the negativity towards City, under any circumstances,

The whores who operate in the media are only interested in the likes of the rags and dippers, who have so many indoctrinated " supporters " , and so attacking City pays their unearned salaries.

Fucked if you don't, and fucked twice over if you do!
