Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Seen a few people saying the issue is Pep not willing to change. I’d argue the complete opposite and say this season is entirely due to us fundamentally changing the way we play and we’re clearly not there yet.

You can see Ljinders influence, we’ve moved away from Peps normal style of football a fair bit. Can see where they’re trying to go with it though.

Self respect? Earning your wage? The fans?
I agree it happens, my question is why. They are fucking professional footballers. Act like it.
Self-respect, earning your wage, the fans - all fair points.

I had my own company for 18 years. When I announced to my staff I was selling up, I watched their mentality shift almost overnight. Suddenly there was a 'can't be arsed' attitude creeping in. Little things not getting done. Less urgency.

And you know what? I couldn't be bothered motivating them anymore either. I was just counting the days till I completed the sale. We were all just going through the motions.

A lot of wild speculation on here. Fact is, we had our foot on the throat of a truly poor Prem side (despite the resources at their disposal) and then had our usual twenty-minute nap. Spurs were so bad that they repeatedly gave the ball to us around their own box but we conspired to take an extra touch or fluff the chance. You can see why they finished 17th last season and are 14th six months into this season. But they were never going to be as inept in the second half as the first. We had the chances to put the game out of sight before Spurs eventually started dropping the ball into our box in the hope of the ball running their way - and it did - twice.

Not that it matters - but their first looked like a Guehi own goal (happy to be corrected) and a foul on him as well. We kept hearing that AN had played them onside but I never saw the VAR image. In real time, looked offside.

Time for Cherki - obviously a truly mega talent - to make the next step up with the side playing through him.

Finally, pretty disgraceful Sky interview with Pep - Patrick Shithouse. All chummy with 14th placed Frank as though Spurs are some plucky little underdog rather than the megabucks club that they are and playing at home.

Just on the rattler home. Title literally gifted to Arsenal not that I ever thouggt we were in it this year.
Knew that 2nd half was coming as soon as they started. It is becoming inexplicable why the levels drop so badly 2nd half.
Do not dress this up. That was a 3rd string Spurs team today who were shot in confidence so up rock City and literally gift them a point.
Fuming at how we fold like a pack of cards whenever a team come at us. Shit houses I am afraid.
Gigi, Khusa Semenyo , Cherki were good. The rest just not at it.
Haaland huffing and puffing as per fucking usual lateley but Omar gets 6 minutes. If he wants to go then let him go. His body language is so wrong.
Rjeinders. Such a piss poor signing as Ait noiri has been. No where near the levels we need.
The 2nd goal. Nico Reilly has to fucking take.control and head it rather than let it bounce.
1st time I have thought this but todays 2nd half has made me realise we need a fresh voice ans different ideas now. Pep will always be a legend for me and if he stays then so be it but I am not adverse to a change come summer.

Pep Ljinders is the problem.

Semenyo is a good finisher but his general game is quite poor. He also looks overweight and unfit
Sounds like many of us mate :)

The frustrating thing today is we don’t go for the throat when we’re ahead. Says it all when our man of the match is our goalie.

Win on Wednesday and we’re at Wembley, thrash the thieves on Sunday and the cockney cunts will shit themselves.

We all love Pep, our vows are to death do us part, and they are set in stone.
But I do feel his pain and have done for a long time, there is nothing better than that cheeky smile after sticking one right up the officials when he tried his best to cheat us out of a win.

But for me, it could be time to say our goodbyes before it gets any worse and slightly darkens the water
What we fans need is clarity and are you in it for another 3 to 5 years with this bunch of players or is it your last season,

I can understand both and can understand the players' reasons for our poor form in the league ?
Yes, we are not in any sort of shape to win the title and our best chances are in the cups and we can understand that

But is it a rebuild for somebody else or do you still fancy another 3 to 5 years to see us become another multi-title winning teams
The boss needs a break. I would do something completely left field and give him the rest of the season off. Come back fresh to commit another 4 years. It’s not realistic tho, so what can we do?

Leave him to it or make the change? No option is ideal based on the last few seasons. Lots of issues with the team regarding injuries, new players. The teams in the league have evolved their playing style while city is a mixed bag of possession and counter depending on who we play. It never used to be like that.

Only those more informed inside the club will have an idea as to what is needed. Khaldoon will stick with pep for as long as possible. Maybe this period will be looked back on as a painful transition to another successful pep era? Maybe it is the end.

I don’t know but I don’t like how we play now. It’s not the level of excellence pep previously demanded.

Rudderless. The ref/var nonsense only highlights our decline. We used to be so good it didn’t really matter. Last two seasons have really given them a chance to screw the club. 115 lies is not enough.

Stick or twist? Not sure.

I think that is partly down to a lack of movement ahead of them.
Sorry, not having that. The time RAN got injured in the second half there was room out to the right for a pass, he just seemed head down to keep running.
Cherki did it in the first half when the pass out wide to Nunez was on.

Trying to goad Pep.

What's more worrying than the second half is the first IMO, I can't remember a time a team has looked as bad as Spurs did and we just didn't going for the kill, we were literally SLOWING the game down pretty much to a halt for no reason at all.

We can talk about the tactics all day on if pep wanted them to slow the game down, but any half decent team would of picked up on the pitch how shit spurs were and just went "Lads, lets just beat them by half time".

I remember that Pellegrini season well. It was only thanks to West fans bringing the United bus and shitting them up that we scraped top four. Pep almost came in with no CL. I think the lap of honour at the end of the reason was watched by a handful.
The lap after the final home game was piss poor because the club fucked up yet again. I think it started about 20 minutes after the final whistle so most fans had long gone.
The lap after the final game at Swansea was watched by almost all that travelled and Pellers got a great send off.

We had just tossed away a game against Arsenal so that may have had some bearing.
