Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

The penalty not given halland because he was being fouled before the ball was in play,so have two players over the corner ,take a quick short corner, players would stop all this holding crap if pens were starting to be given
You are right, but... FFS when we had a corner and Erling was wrestled to the ground, was that not happened in a game time? How was that not a penalty?! And other thing is, Marc Guehi saved us in last milisecond before that ugly bastard Salunky kick his foot from behind and the ball end up in our net... How they give that as a good goal? THE BENT BASTARDS... THERE IS ONE HELP WITH THIS BECAUSE VAR EXISTS... WHEN ITS ON ME, I START A RULE THAT AFTER EVERY BENT DECISION THE REF,S AND VAR REF,S GIVE, A GOOD SLAP FOR ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE THE RIGHT THERAPY HOW TO STOP BEING BENT BASTARDS... AFTER ALL THAT YEARS THEY ARE NOT FAIR TO US, THEY SHOULD HAVE BLUE CHEEKS FROM THE SLAPS....... THE CHEATING BENT BASTARDS !!!

Take the Solanke/Guehi thing vs Spurs. In the first 130 years of league football, you'd say that's a scrappy goal, maybe a bit of a kick on Guehi, but ultimately just one of those things that happen sometimes. Zoom right in and it looks like a foul - but once you zoom in and don't give the foul, then what's the fucking point in even zooming in?
I watched the game in a bar full of Spurs fans (at the invite of my mate and his two adult lads who are all Spuds).

When the first Solanke goal went in, I said it was a foul. They all laughed at me!

When they showed the close up slo mo of Solanke kicking Guehi in the back of the leg AFTER Guehi had got to the ball FIRST, they all shut up, other than a chorus of “Fuck! VAR’s going to overturn it!” and other sundry moaning.

When the VAR GAVE IT, to a person, they just laughed incredulously, as I shook my head and said “Every fucking week!!!”

Even a bar full of Spurs fans saw the foul, realized the goal wasn’t going to be given, and thought it was hilarious that it was!

At a minimum, the ref should have been given the opportunity to have a closer look at the foul that he had clearly not seen, but not even that happened!

So, to emphasize your point, why even show us the fucking slo-mo replays of the foul if the refs are going to wrap themselves into pretzels trying to figure out how NOT to give the foul??

Yep didn't want to comment on the game day thread or post match for this very reason.

If you think it enrages you.. imagine how much it enrages the players.
Rodri clearly not happy about it, and neither is Pep.

Looking at the body language of the players today they seemed absolutely perplexed with some of the referees decisions.

The negative narrative towards our club in every media social outlet over the last 10 years is why we get refereed different too referees read it all they then subliminally do confirmation bias in refereeing us! Why do you think certain clubs get refereed differently to all media outlets suck them off
This . It's confirmation bias not a conspiracy .Insidious and hard to prove but the PL have done a job on us with the 115 . We are "guilty" and "cheats" and referees are human . That " goal " in the derby and the handball in the cup final confirmed it for me .

Very telling that Spuds fans thought it was a foul when they watched it back.

We're told that VAR check every goal, but thar clearly isn't true.

They just make shit up.

Definitely bent if you ask me.
Guehi challenge was 100% a foul, slow it down on YouTube and you can see his leg buckle before contact is made with ball.
And these fuckers can rock and roll backwards and forwards as slow as they like!
Premier League want a different winner and they know Arsenal will shit the bed if we get to close to them.

Thought it was worthy of a thread to get genuine opinions about it.

I’ve never been one for the conspiracy really of the referees being against us. Up until this season that is.

But I think that’s only because we’ve been successful so dodgy decisions didn’t ‘matter’ too much in the grand scheme of things. A bit like the Wolves handball last week, we won so swept under the carpet.

But so far this season we’ve had;

1. Newcastle offside goal
2. Newcastle no penalty for handball
3. Newcastle no penalty for a late tackle on Foden (of which, Fulham got a penalty for today!)
4. Haaland wrestled to the ground today, VAR admitting it was a foul but not given because the corner hadn’t been taken
5. Guehi kicked today, Solanke can only score by kicking through our player, no foul
6. The horrendous ‘offside’ disallowed goal away at Newcastle in the cup
7. The Dalot red card a couple of weeks ago

They’re just major decisions and ignoring how every week teams are allowed to kick the shit out of us without booking - Gallagher must’ve given away 7/8 fouls today with no booking. Yet as soon as we do a similar foul we’re shown a yellow.

Same way we’ve watched goalkeepers time waste from minute 1 at our place for years without being carded/rushed along but as soon as Ederson/Donnarumma do it, they’re cautioned/told to hurry up.

Going further back there’s the Rashford goal in the 22/23 derby which has somehow been brushed over and the transcript/audio for it has never been released.

We seem to be refereed differently and I’ve always assumed it was me with blue tinted glasses on until you see the same decisions going the opposite way to what we given against us:

1. Semenyo goal/Haaland offside against Newcastle in the cup - the same ‘rule’ ignored 2 days later when Arsenal played Chelsea and the goal was given in favour of Arsenal despite Gyokeres doing the same thing Haaland did.

2. Foden not getting a penalty away at Newcastle in the league after getting fouled after the shot…Fulham getting a penalty today for Jimenez being fouled after taking a shot.

3. Pep has been carded FOUR TIMES this season by referees yet you see Arteta essentially tackling players on the pitch every week and leaving his technical area with no retort.

Then there’s the 5cm rule which seemed to come and go after being used all of once.

There’s no doubt more I’m missing but I’m starting to become a little disillusioned with it all to be honest. Every week you can guarantee a combination of niggly poor decisions which affect the tempo, feel and momentum of the game as well as a big decision (or two, or three) which stitch us up out of points.

And it’s an all too easy connection to make that we’re obviously not the league’s favourite club in the past few years given the charges that have been lingering for nearly 4 years over the club’s head. Add to that, Pep calling them out for being shite.

Personally, I think VAR discussions should be broadcast both on TV and in the stadium. It’s too easy for them to manipulate decisions when fans have no clue as to what is actually happening. Also not sure how it’s been deemed right and fair that fans pay hundreds of pounds a year to watch football and can go up to 6/7 minutes without knowing what the fuck is going on while some prick miles away is fiddling about with lines on a computer.
Add Rico receiving a yellow for time wasting at a throw after multiple ball towelling long throws by the opposition where the ref only started counting after the towel had been discarded.

Every set of fans in the entire league thinks this.

But just think about how difficult it would be to actually orchestrate such a conspiracy * and* keep it quiet.

It's ridiculous and embarrassing. Focus on our game.
Individual biases don’t need to be conspired for, though.

Especially as City are viewed by the establishment as the big bad wolf. Compounded by many refs/higher ups supporting rags/liverpool/arsenal.

It’s bent and has been for years.

Before we were undeniable. Too good beat.

Now those small margins can fuck us because we’re shit at the minute.

Khusanov getting pushed into the advertising hoardings by Delap. No city player anywhere to be seen, which would have been unthinkable in teams gone by…
Whilst I agree with the general premise of your post, I don’t agree with the above, if I remember rightly Nunes was booked for his reaction

the consensus on MOTD is it was great to see the goal stand as we don’t want to see goals disallowed for that.

Just like last week when it was great to see a ref go to a screen and not overturn his decision (even though it was as clearcut a handball as you’ll see)

As I said, no one defends us, so it’s great when Pep loses it on press conferences about officiating against us.
The players are a bit too nice too, half heartedly claiming for things whilst smiling (Haaland at corners)
Need to show a bit more anger and fight.

Deeney said they all agreed it was a foul but they are glad for football it wasn't given... not entirely sure how that fucking works

At a minimum, the ref should have been given the opportunity to have a closer look at the foul that he had clearly not seen, but not even that happened!
That's what I don't understand - it's clearly subjective and unless Rob Jones said to VAR 'Yes I saw he kicked through Guehi to get to the ball and I'm happy with it', then they should have sent him to the monitor. I've yet to see lines drawn on him being onside as well, even if it does look like RAN kept him on

Mistakes I can agree with....all refs will make mistakes.

Id sort fo agree with the one you reference here in this game as well....it could easily have been give as a foul.

However what about Rodri not getting two yellows....there was also a call for that....you have seen them given as well in other games before.

My issue with the constant whining about refs is that you cannot control it.....you can only do what we can do as a team.....
We have to look at the team and how they played....thats what needs to change....we play better we win that game easily even id spurs get those two goals....
The other issue I have with it is that some fans are almost setting the scenario before it even happens...pre game....its like some sorf of fucking safety net for their minds just incase we do lose to have a ready made excuse at hand cause they just cant take it otherwise - and that is just fucking pathetic
Maybe he could have got a second but like you say it was soft and they have openly admitted they tend to give more leeway for a second yellow and I think Jones did exactly that
So, you agree the goal shouldn’t have stood? What about all the other clear and obvious errors, some where they took 5 mins to disallow a City goal yet others were dismissed in seconds, just coincidence that they would have favoured City?
There is clear evidence that City are, for what ever reason, treated differently no club has suffered for such bad “mistakes” as City Attwell is a serial offender and that is why once the officials have been announced how we will be treated Gillette is another one

I think you’d have to fight shitshow with proper shithousery & ruin the tv schedule. Get a player to lie there motionless for an hour as if paralysed & the doctors are worried about using the stretcher…… then just spray them & get on with it. I’m sick of the cunts.

Nothing wrong with having a winning mentality.....if you doubt me listen to the words of the best manager that this club has ever had and probably the best manager the world has ever seen.

  • "We won't improve if we use that as an argument or an excuse... You have to play better."
  • "It's beneath me as a manager to make excuses about refereeing decisions."
  • "If my players start using refereeing decisions as an excuse for this result, then we will be in big trouble in the future."
All Peps words on the subject - and there are others.

You can question refs decisions as being right or wrong...thats fair enough but humans make mistakes and that is part of the game but the predictability of the fans on here and everywhere else for other clubs as well making the same shit noises about VAR/refs etc is fucking boring and that it favours certain teams over others (literally every fan of every fucking club says the same thing - (they all cant be right!)....

Fucking crying EVERY WEEK even before the game about decisions/refs - its pathetic and shows a weak mentality.

And even if there is a case for it being right you can do fuck all about it.....all you can do is like Pep says...win inspite of it.

The performance was shit today and have been medicore all season by our more recent standards. We deserve to be where we are and we will deserve what we get at the end of the season - if we win it, we deserve to, if we dont deserve to we wont.

Do you think Rodri was lucky to stay on the pitch today - I think he was - he could easily have had two yellows (the second would have been soft but they get given plenty of times)...thats why he was taken off as Pep and the coaching staff recognised this and hauled him off before it happnened....was the ref being biased then when he didnt book Rodri a second time????

You are right on one thing...you should be ashamed of constantly fucking whinging about the refs....you sound like that twat Goldbridge tbh

Refs get decisions wrong...yes
But a fucking agenda to do it deliberately every week..... where is your tin foil hat?View attachment 182414
This quote almost sums it up
So why is Pep breaking his own rule now and allowing the captains to do the same
