Seat Counters 25/26

We didn't "just about" sell out the FA Cup final last year. In fact we had an extra allocation.
The only "sticky" tickets were the Level 2 seats with obscene prices from memory £230+ which took about a week or so to go. Some other baulked at £165 as well but all sold in the end to ST and Memberships.
It sold out with two days to go.

Yes. This thread must be sweet reading for rival fans who hate us.

I’ve been getting plenty of stick off Leeds fans and say we need the extra room for our trophies. Unfortunately, I stooped to their banter level over the weekend by sending this video.

We are in good company!

You're not wrong. But neither am I.
Yes but it's a clear misrepresentation of the demand there was for the final to say that it 'just' sold out.

You're saying we only just sold out, because it took a while for about a thousand £250 seats to sell out, when the other 34,000 seats absolutely flew off the shelf.

So yes you're not technically wrong, but it's certainly a misleading choice of language.

Wow, sorry, I didn't realise my comment would cause so much hurt. Sorry about that.

There is no sugar coating it, the likely attendance we’ll see on Wednesday is just poor. We will get rinsed and rightfully so.

This isn’t me letting the club off the hook either, they’re fucking things up way too often and should be held accountable. However, we all know there is an element of some fans just not being bothered enough and it is beginning to show.

The Galatasaray match and empty seats I get up to a point, as the restrictions put in place made it almost impossible to get tickets. My son and mate were both away on holiday and couldn't resell or transfer their tickets, so 2 empty seats next to me and the guy who also sits next to me was unable to get 2 tickets for his mates, which has never happened before so the club pretty much locked the match down. A league cup Semi Final and chance to get to Wembley with loads of empty seats will be embarrassing. So many excuses as well. Weather, Cost ( the tickets are pretty cheap) Traffic, KO time, Travel, Opposition fans, the club... blah blah. All the same factors that have been in play for years when we were selling matches like this out, so it's just a load of whiney excuses. A large chunk of our fan base these days are recent converts and fair weather plastic fans. They are also the ones that get moody when they get ripped by their mates about empty seats. Couldn't make it up. Either way, it's just piss poor. Would Everton, Leeds, Liverpool, United, Villa not sell out. Of course they would, I'm sorry to say we have some pretty crap fans, and after 50 years of following City, I'm pretty qualified to form that opinion..

I've posted this previously. But I'll post it again.

I honestly and sincerely hope Soriano, Danny Wilson and the other Directors row back on their recent ticket sale and ticket transfer decisions and bring in some new and ground breaking ticket sale ideas, otherwise there will be 1000's of unsold and empty seats next season.

Even they can't be that blind, stubborn, and belligerent to see what has been unfolding amongst the fans and on the terraces and not do anything about it.

No mate I certainly wasn't implying that you'd hurt anyone. I was just giving your original comments further context.

You definitely don't need to apologise, we all want the same thing here after all!

Excellent points!

That's a fair post.

But you have to ask why this has happened, and why it is continuing.

Yes, the blame, if there is one, ultimately lies with the fans because they are not turning up.

But he club have to take a lot of responsibility for this with their limited season ticket choice, match day ticket prices, new and draconian ticket transfer rules, and over zealous match day stewarding, etc.

Buying and transfer tickets which should be a cheap and straightgorward process has become a mine field of decisions created by the club on purpose without any thought for the fans.

Ultimately it's all about controlling ticket sales completely to maximize match day revenue, regardless of the inconvenience that it is causing the fans, who are walking away from the club in their droves, or are not attending matches in their 1000's.

The club can certainly take some blame in all this, but I do think we're seeing a lot of fans throw in the towel a bit too easily. We've been blessed to witness more success than we ever dreamt possible. But we've climbed the mountain and sat on top for a long period and I think many are burnt out now. Victims of our own success in many ways. The energy to go and watch City play Newcastle midweek in a semi final when you've seen us win at Wembley countless times or in Istanbul or at home to the best in the CL just isn't there.

Pricing has always had an impact on attendances but I think other things like the weather, travel, opposition have all become more of an excuse than they used to be because of our previous success though.

The club has to release more season tickets in the NS or we're in trouble. They have to try and attract younger, hungry fans who will have the energy to come week in week out regardless of the opposition.

I'm sort-of hoping that next season all our domestic cup matches are away.

Not only will it be cheaper for cup scheme members like me (I wonder how many posters on this thread are actually on it) but with only European midweek fixtures to worry about, the club will still get relatively decent attendances- assuming we don't have to tolerate Galatasaray or Celtic etc.

Then I can stop being irritated by posters who seem to think that empty seats is a criminal offence, and that by using the phrase every 5th word, it makes them a better supporter than me.

Did United sell out for their Semi Final v Hull in 16--17 or was the attendance 10,000 less than when they'd beaten City earlier in the competition?

You have missed the club alienating lots of fans. Plenty warned this would happen over the last year/18 months and its coming home to roost now, big time.

My cousin has 3 kids. Used to go to 5/6 games per season as a family of 5 (league cup/slightly less high profile games). They don't go anymore, due to this memebship requirement and not being able to transfer tickets. If you make it harder/more expensive for families to go, then they wont go! You reap what you sow!!

I get what you’re saying, but for a few years fa cup or league cup games were the only games I could afford. They give loads of families their only chance of seeing city live. Cheap tickets/ Saturday afternoon vs midweek and probably expensive - we know what most people prefer

I can remember having conversations back in 2021 where people were predicting this would happen. It's almost been scary how accurate these predictions have been, the only surprising bit is how fast it's all happened.

I think the even scarier point is the fact that a bunch of know-it-alls on Bluemoon could see it coming a mile off, yet the so called professionals running our club didn't have a clue

To add to this, we really have spent the last half a decade telling the club to stop alienating and pricing out their core fan base, or they'll pay the price.

Now that they are paying the price for it, we've got people blaming the fans????? Absolutely astonishing to me.
