Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

I’ve been as frustrated as anyone with various things over the years but this is the first time I think where I’m genuinely not fussed if he goes.

The football is turgid, we don’t look close to winning the title and is he the man to lead this next team, I don’t think so.

Only recently.

Throughtout the season we've scored the most goals and the most from open play.

We've also won a number of games by the skin of our teeth. Many on here don't like that and want 5 nil wins but we've had pretty exciting wins.

It all depends on what Pep's appetite is and what alternative options are out there.

Vinny would give the whole club a huge boost considering what a blow it would be to lose him. He'd get the time and patience any man replacing Pep would need. I wouldn't expect him to leave Bayern this summer though, 2027 would be more realistic.

Maresca would be doomed from the start in my opinion.

Alonso would be a great replacement and the only one who is available that I would take if it did happen this season. Fabregas was mentioned but he needs another season before I'd look at him seriously, and even then it's a huge jump.

ornstein claiming he’s off.

Not what he said, he said maybe, that he's hearing soft approaches to other managers etc just in case he might be off.

Would be very surprising if Pep left halfway through his contract.

Very unlikely but I hope he signs another contract to continue the rebuild and ram all the criticism from the media and people on here down their necks.

Maybe I’ve been done by the headline “extreme likely” it said.

We won titles and trophies with two other managers and installing another one in the hot seat shouldn't change us that much, in fact it might make us a little but more interesting to watch.

I think that Enzo Maresca would bring a similar style to Pep, but with a few new ideas, a fresher approach, and would provide a much needed lift to a few of our players.

Yeah there's nothing in there but a guess.

Pep has always made it clear he'll stay for as long as he's happy and the club want him. They'll undoubtedly have looked to agree a contract that made the noise go away but with an agreement that either could terminate sooner if desired. The noise hasn't really gone away, but even if we've had a recent spell of poor performances and results he must be a lot happier with the quality of the squad and generally see a brighter future ahead with this group.

I think it's more certain fans that are ready for him to go than Pep sharing that feeling. I personally think it makes sense for him to see out this contract. Get rid of the final group of older players this summer, with a refresh and build the platform for someone else to come in summer 2027 when we might just have a pre-season to work with.

Your closing comment is ludicrous. Pep is very clearly showing signs of burnout. It's to be expected given the exceptional level he's been working at for nearly ten years.

He'll want to see out his contract, but I don't think he's stupid enough to make himself ill doing so.

It's perfectly normal for fans to point out what they see as a 'drop' in performance and to offer their own opinions on the reasons. Fans have done this since football started.

It's the same for the media. Like many fans, they've seen 'peak' City go into (relative) decline over the last 18/24 months and they've also witnessed Pep's frequently erratic behaviour in press conferences, interviews, and on the touchline.

Pep's been the best, probably still is, but an increasing number of fans, and many in the media, can see that the end is nigh for him at City. It's called progress, it's what happens in the real world. If it's not addressed quickly and properly, there could be negative impact on all parties.

You come across as being so entrenched in the 'cult of Pep' that you expect him to stay in the job until he drops dead.

Was waiting for the "pep are you leaving" question in the press conference, I'm guessing it will be in the embargo, the media pretty much ask him everyweek and have done for years

He was just about to let rip then, until they set an embargo, looks up for it again which is always encouraging in his normally miserable as fuck pressers

He's been brilliant for all of this season. His press conferences, his energy, gives zero indication of a man tired or bored. The weird rumours/stories that people are perpetuating about his health are proper bottom of the barrel stuff that only individuals who want to go out of their way to denigrate him would repeat.

The press officer just cut him short, he was about to let them have it, can't wait for 10.30pm now.

No wonder he dislikes them so much. He tells them every week that he is happy here but they ignore what he says every time. There is zero respect for Pep because they are desperate for him to leave and for little old City to be put back in there box and become mid to lower league cannon fodder for the red shirted bastards.

The best representative the owners/club will ever have. There's a reason they'll never sack him, and back him with whatever he wants. He has a fronted a decade of lies and innuendo from the media and given it back to them every chance he has had.

Think there's a few in this thread who would like that too.

Nonsense. As usual.
