Will we win the league this season? No

Sadly I think I think our race is run. 8 points dropped from four draws. The momentum would have carried us forward but it is what it is. Head can’t see us winning tomorrow based on current form but the dreamer in me says we could be 3 points behind them before they travel to Brentford on Thursday if we win our next two

It’s been over 20 years since Arsenal last won the league, yet this season we consistently fail to capitalise when they drop points. When they drop, we drop. When they win, we drop. At this point we are begging them to win it. Bizarre, almost chaotic patterns keep emerging, so by that logic, why couldn’t United finish above us? They are in form and we s*** the bed every second half if we are not missing sitters!

This raises a deeper question: are past performances truly predictive, or merely descriptive? If historical dominance were destiny, then during the peak of the Ferguson era, no other club should have been able to win the league at all — yet we did. History informs context; it does not dictate outcomes.

Pattern recognition is useful, but it has limits. In complex, dynamic or non-linear systems like football, patterns decay, fracture, and eventually break. Assuming continuity without accounting for change is not insight — it’s a failure to understand variance, regression, and structural shifts. City has regressed and it is self inflicted.

City in 2026 have been poor by their own standards. We struggle to control games and can’t even contain teams we should be dispatching comfortably. That reality matters far more than recycled narratives about history.
Whatever happens Sunday we will be 2nd in the table,we have been poor it shows you what a sh it standard the prems been.

Thats really what it is. Win the next two games to stay in it.

Things like this are pointless, though. They're never wrong because they're always updating based on the most recent information/data, and probability is only based on history as opposed to the present or future.
Agree with this up to a point but would say this is current probability. I've seen basketball teams win games that they supposedly had <1% chance of winning in game.

Weirdly opta rate West Ham massively more likely than Forest to get relegated, despite there only being 1 win separating them.

I admire the optimism for some on here - but the league is long gone and anybody thinking otherwise is delusional.

One win in six games and that against the worst team in PL history is the reality.

Let’s hope Pep sorts it out quickly and we can be competitive for what will be a close fight for the top 5 places.

The question should be, are we good enough to beat the system, never mind the title.
In the past 9 seasons, we were good enough to beat the system, VAR and the match officials could not stop us because we had goals all over the park and quality in KDB finding impossible passes

sub standard squads dont win he league

If you look at Arsenals back four (not including the goalkeeper) the two centre halves are better than what we have available for the most part and on par with what we have in Guehi - Stones on top form walks into Arsenals team BUT he aint ever getting that back...Dias is a half step below, Ake on top form plays in Arsenals team btu like Stones he is done.

GK's - Donarumma better shot stopper but Raya is a very decent keeper.

Our midfiled has no legs defensively...Arsenals works hard....we have more creativity with the likes of Cherki but they have runners and players who battle....we simply dont...Zubamendi, rice are better than all of our midfield defensively baring Rodri (and he aint anywhere near his top form and has barely been available)....

We clearly have better in the centre forward position but Saka is better than anyone we have available on the right hand side...Doku and Semenyo probably get into Arsenals starting 11 at times on the left but their options arent bad either.

Its the back four and midfield where we lose it
