We'd have to actually win matches to win the league, draws and defeats will hardly do it.
Whatever happens Sunday we will be 2nd in the table,we have been poor it shows you what a sh it standard the prems been. It’s been over 20 years since Arsenal last won the league, yet this season we consistently fail to capitalise when they drop points. When they drop, we drop. When they win, we drop. At this point we are begging them to win it. Bizarre, almost chaotic patterns keep emerging, so by that logic, why couldn’t United finish above us? They are in form and we s*** the bed every second half if we are not missing sitters!
This raises a deeper question: are past performances truly predictive, or merely descriptive? If historical dominance were destiny, then during the peak of the Ferguson era, no other club should have been able to win the league at all — yet we did. History informs context; it does not dictate outcomes.
Pattern recognition is useful, but it has limits. In complex, dynamic or non-linear systems like football, patterns decay, fracture, and eventually break. Assuming continuity without accounting for change is not insight — it’s a failure to understand variance, regression, and structural shifts. City has regressed and it is self inflicted.
City in 2026 have been poor by their own standards. We struggle to control games and can’t even contain teams we should be dispatching comfortably. That reality matters far more than recycled narratives about history.
Things like this are pointless, though. They're never wrong because they're always updating based on the most recent information/data, and probability is only based on history as opposed to the present or future.
Thats really what it is. Win the next two games to stay in it.Sadly I think I think our race is run. 8 points dropped from four draws. The momentum would have carried us forward but it is what it is. Head can’t see us winning tomorrow based on current form but the dreamer in me says we could be 3 points behind them before they travel to Brentford on Thursday if we win our next two
Exactly. The season doesn't start til May.They were always going to beat Sunderland. The wrist slitters writing it off off the back of that. Bizarre
We drop points when we are winning against mid teams and we can’t overturn even a one goal lead against any semi decent teamCan you honestly see this team having the mental strength to to go on a run? We shit the bed at the slightest bit of pressure.
that explains the performances of the majority of our squad then this seasonExactly. The season doesn't start til May.
Agree with this up to a point but would say this is current probability. I've seen basketball teams win games that they supposedly had <1% chance of winning in game.Things like this are pointless, though. They're never wrong because they're always updating based on the most recent information/data, and probability is only based on history as opposed to the present or future.

That’s it then. Deansgate, here we come!
Or we could be 12 points behind by end of Thrusday. Lets hope for your version of things!if think we are going to be only 3 points behind ,after wednesday.its a funny old game
Why are you linking those two statements? It’s been over 20 years since Arsenal last won the league, yet this season we consistently fail to capitalise when they drop points
