Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

Will state again oreilly is already head and shoulders above him in every department no need to spend thst money on a bench player.

Anderson is the Bernardo Silva replacement. As Bernardo is leaving so there’s room in the team for Anderson.

No one can replace Silva he is a one off like Yaya was and Kdb was

I agree, but you can replace quality with quality, I've been watching forest more as we will get Anderson cheaper if they get relegated and I kinda want West Ham to stay up as I've got a soft spot for West Ham.

What's stuck out to me is I thought he was just a bully player wins his duels, work horse etc but he's surprisingly very good technically and he creates chances last night the chance for Gibbs White in the highlights what a ball that was.

If we have picked him as the Bernardo replacement watching him now for a while I can see why. Heads always on a swivel knows exactly where the next pass is going when to take the chance press resistant and can hold his own in midfield. He'd be brilliant in this City team.

Oh yeah he is an outstaying player he will cost a fortune anything around 60/80m is about right but if they quote 100m will we pay that? I would because how good he is and he is young

Is he really a £100m player? I know it’s a team game, but would Forest be in the same position if instead of him they had either Rice or Bellingham in their midfield?

Point is, is he really that good he’ll transform our team and is worth spending Rice/Bellingham money on? Or would we be better off giving Bernie a new contract, playing O’Reilly in midfield (my preference) and using the money elsewhere (offer PSG £100m for Hakimi for example)

Luckily those decisions will be made by others who are probably better equipped to assess all aspects of the player.

Is it worth spending £100m on any player, and the answer is only known when the player actually arrives and meshes fully with the players around them.

We dont buy like RM thankfully, and although we were probably in for Bellingham, from what I've witnessed, I'm pleased we failed in that bid.

Agreed on a squad but at the money being asked he's too dear imo I'd imagine and hope our first choice 3 in midfield would be

Rodri/gonzalez
Nor/??
Foden/cherki
If Rodri remains until end of his contract 2027. Next season will be Rodri’s last season with us. Anderson will have moved on by then….so we will need to replace Rodri in 2027, but with whom?

Wouldn’t it be wise to get a replacement in now, to learn from a master?

Would be better if we gave Rodri a contract extension.

They'd 100% be worse off if they had Bellingham instead. Theyd quite possibly be worse off if they had Rice.

Anderson's been brilliant for them, there's no guarantees either of them would have been in this situation (I'm pretty sure one would t have been..). Similarly though, there's no guarantee he'd be brilliant for us - he'd probably have to try and do everything himself a little less, but the fact he's shown he can do everything means I'm sure we'd find a way to fit him in.

I would agree, I just sense he will either see out this current contract or push to leave in summer, especially if Pep leaves. I have not heard a peep about negotiating a new contract with him and it seeming like he is likely to accept.

Obviously the club would have a better idea of Rodri’s feelings and it maybe they are not worried. As a fan, I am.
