Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

Have a look a a poll ?

I think polling shows the country pretty much split equally between lets broadly call them conservative (Cons and Ref) and progressive* parties (Grn, Lab, LibD). The best polling party is Ref at around 30% but when it comes to immigration (a subject often talked about on here) then a proportion of potential Conservative voters and even some Reform voters peel away, suggesting maybe total support for Reforms immigration position at around 30-33% of the electorate. So 3 in 10 agreeing, 7 in 10 disagreeing, maybe getting closer to 4/6 depending on the framing. When you factor in the research that says that people with more 'conservative' views are somewhat less likely to air them in public forums than people with 'liberal' views, I'm not sure this place is a hotbed of anything in either direction. Unless Ric is secretly cranking the handle on some dodgy algorithmic stuff - it's probably more representative than some bigger platforms tbf.

(* I recognise plenty of people would disagree with at least one of the parties being in this grouping)

Who should a white Christian vote for in this constituency just asking from an outsider

Can't answer for anyone else but as a white church going Christian it would probably be at this point in time Green rather than Labour though ultimately I'd probably go with whichever one was likely to keep Reform out as, of the possible winners, I consider them the most antithetical to my beliefs.

Noticed a report from the guardian this week, generally along the lines of angst at far right labour, farage fascists etc. They were trying some faux vocs pops on the 201 bus, as a snapshot. Having travelled that route over 27 years, they claimed it took 10 mins to get from Piccadilly to Denton. Even on a quiet day the journey takes 20/25 mins.

If they are that inaccurate over a factual statement, what the heck else are they wrong about? If in any doubt, read the work of their resident crayon chewers on football such as jamie **** jackson and dick pic glendenning, amongst others.

On another note both me n the missus getting plenty of calls from political types, normally just block the numbers. I switched to a postal vote years ago when I saw the edl hanging around the polling station, hope people here have their eyes open as to who they're voting for.

Lots and lots of Vote Green signs. A handful for Labour. No Reform, but I gather those that do are keeping their vote close to their chest. They came 2nd round here last time on 5k votes.

Labour got over 18k. With Labour haemorrhaging votes to the Greens and Reform, it could literally be anyone, but I pray Labour are gone and the Greens get in. Labour have done nothing positive for the area for decades and tried to shut down our libraries, swimming pools and supermarkets, until we voted in the Lib Dems who stopped them.

Its not a vote that should be based on skin colour, ethnicity nor religion. It should be based on their manifesto. I can see you pushing certain buttons but race baiting doesn't work here fella.

Er... isn't this down to the LibDem-led council?

Er... then that's the answer. A white Christian should not be voting for a party that makes an issue of skin colour, ethnicity or religion. And, as the founder of Christianity was a refugee,a white Christian should probably vote for a party that has a bit of sympathy for those fleeing oppression.

Actually, good advice for any voter.
