Club distance themselves from co-owner
The Times reported on 13/12/26 that the hierarchy of the club had distanced themselves from their co-owner, Jim Ratcliffe, and those involved in utd`s new stadium ideas were also concerned about the effects of his words.
It is the case though that the regeneration proposals in Trafford do not require a new stadium. The proposals can be developed independently of utd speculatively riding on the coattails of others.
The absent billionaire owners in America and Monaco are not putting in any of their own money nor are the club. They do not own the required land and do not have the resources themselves. Utd. want others to pay including from the public purse for land acquisition and relocation of a freight rail terminal.
Utd. executives started last year, pitching at MIPIM and trying to get others interested in paying, but utd. did mot have a plan, the necessary land or a budget. Just sketches and impressions quickly put together with the publicity hungry Mayor jumping on a potential good news story for political gain.
The new Mayoral Corporation, fronted by southerner Coe who is no friend of Manchester after his negative approach to the Commonwealth Games and previous Manchester bids for the Olympics, has no connection or affinity with the North.
Stockport`s Mayoral Corporation is a success with less hyperbole, wise investment and value for money.
There is much smoke and many mirrors out of town across in Trafford.
