47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

He made all the switches of play before Rodri came on btw. It’s not a good performance by any stretch of the imagination but it wasn’t pathetic.
But he was playing against Salford . He needs to massively up his game if he’s to play into this squad .

Thought he was the best out of anyone not in defence. Hes Still a way off it but he tried to dictate, got on the ball and made some good passes. Some bad ones too but he looked the most interested.

Phil is at his best when there is a creative outlet beside him, picking the passes and creating chances. It's why the KDB and Foden duo worked so well for years. KDB took the creative duties and allowed Phil to focus more on scoring and getting into the box.
Simply he is not a creative player. So why is he playing 8 or 10 when he is crap in this position? Everyone knows he is better as a winger or shadow striker.

I have to agree with this. He’s lethal when he’s facing goal.

When he was being played as a winger earlier in his career, the majority were crying out for him to be played centrally as a 10.

It does seem like the experimenting with different positions whilst he developed has confused things.

He doesn’t seem the same since the last international tournament and his decline is a shame. Let’s hope he can find the form he had a few months ago and of his player of the year season

True. Played best as ‚last third’ player
The thing that is shocking me the most is his lack of physical development. He is still looking like a 18 year old boy and the coaches/the club is not developing him at all in terms of physicality. That's my biggest issue. He would look like a totally different player if he would spent 3 months under Hansi Flick, but this is my biggest problem with Guardiola - zero interest in developing players physically, so I hope his successor would bring some better fitness regime to the club.

Phil Foden's current Manchester City contract runs until June 2027, signed in October 2022.

I don't think he'll be sold but he's got a year to get it together or the club might decide to go a different route.

I still think they'll extend him but it's not as sure as it could have been or would have seemed.

Was talking to a fella at the Newcastle league cup ( home game ) got talking about Foden he told me(can believe it or not) but apparently he has moved house, from the one which apparently had a river or lake at bottom of garden and he loved nothing more than being down there fishing, throw into that his in-laws are living with him as well, and his heads up the left now ..

Apparently they fell out with the neighbours big time

Never looked like was in the game and although he put in the effort, he had less influence on the match than the ref did.

It’s just poor/average performance after poor/average performance and has been going on for almost 2 seasons now. A good spell lasting a month or so in both but other than that pretty average at best. I just can’t understand this level of drop off.

Such a good player, but he doesn’t seem right does he.

Always thought he would step up and take games by the scruff of the neck. Unfortunately going on two years now he has played like any other run of the mill premiership player. Not sure if we are good enough to carry him and cherki in same line up.
