You can’t justify spending £4bn on the a BBC when most of what it does is duplicated by other broadcasters. We can’t afford it.
The BBC is a long, long way off of being the institution it was set up to be. It definitely needs an overhaul under visionary leadership (whoever that may be, I don't know).

The question though, is not can the British people afford to have it but rather, can the British people afford to NOT have it.

Whatever way you look at it, it remains the last great media institition in Britain that is owned by the people of Britain.
Scrap the BBC and people like Murdoch or Musk will rush fill the void. And not for the love of the British people either.

Both the Tories (mostly, in my opinion) and Labour have both been responsible for the demise if the BBC. Soon, it looks like Reform will be in power (to a greater or lesser degree). As bad as the other two are, fascists (and that's exactly what Farage's miserable band of cunts are) wouldn't be renowned for trading in the nuances of truth.

Scrap the BBC and you flush away the British people's one and only hope of controlling the narrative.

That’s a man who should be on the same wage as Stone & Hafez combined. Or even better, he should be promoted to chief football writer, and Stone sacked.

Sadly I can see the media city knives being sharpened - ‘how dare we have an employee that likes Pep and understands football!’
What did he ask pls?

I don't want to go anywhere near or install X and it won't let me watch without so doing.

An intelligent question posed to Pep? Is it 1 April.

He started the question , describing an old Tunisia vs Spain match and how the midfield worked/didn’t work and how that setup works for City (approx).

Basically it had more insight, football knowledge and background than all the Pep news conference questions I’ve seen, combined.

Pep’s eyes lit up, and asked whether he wanted to become his new assistant coach.

Thanks. That explains why I saw a description under a YouTube snippet of the Pep presser, which I watched but that wasn't included; mainly centered on Peps views re Scruffy Jim's recent comments.

Pep would have relished a knowledgeable technical question. His reply would also have very adroitly put the pack of amoeba sloths to shame because all they want to do is get a clickbbait quote from Pep that they can twist to suit their biased narrative. Pep knows it, hence he doesn't fall for it and rightly treats them with the disdain they deserve.

I think the BBC should slim down and concentrate only on what the market can’t provide. That would include independent honest journalism and high quality creative content. But so much if its content is dross and its news operation has been ruined by its blatant bias. I disagree with your last paragraph though because the BBC, in its current form, is out of touch with most British people. If it does not change it will die.

I could help them with this - I can think of three people in BBC Sport who represent significant savings and won’t be missed.
Would be delicious to see many grifters within the sport department getting the boot.

im not on x but can view it you just press the little cross to get rid of the screen blocking it and then can view if that makes sense :)

The fact it regularly uses clickbait headline links for news articles on its main page shows just how much it's lost touch with what should be its purpose - which is to impartially inform.

Does the bbc even need a sports department, what sport does the bbc show ?

A rowing race between the same two universities.
A horse race from dipperpool
Middle class tennis tournament

Think Wimbledon is the only live sport left on the bbc now
What about the wizzing down hill on a tea tray and sliding blocks along the ice into a circle? Don’t get me started on the cool kids on their snowboards with their goofy stance and melon and tail grabs currently showing at the Winter Olympics.

Surely these are live sports for the masses from Miles platting, Newton Heath and Moss Side.

OK - I get your point :)
