VAR Discussion Thread

Finally found the Morgan Rogers foul on Gvardiol from earlier in the season. How does VAR not give this? How does the ref not see it anyway?

Dig out the foul in the spurs game (2nd match of the season) on Bobb in the area if you've got the time and resources mate. Totally flattened with a two handed push to the back from behind as he slowed down to take on their last defender. Definite penalty.

We've been getting all sorts of penalty appeals simply ignored all season.

Leaves just the idiots supporting VAR when we all, the managers, the players, most of the fans, can see the shit it has brought. Reign it in like what we want, its ruining the game, even the football authorities can see it.

And whilst I am at it hopefully the VAR supporters can see how VAR has made it possible to state that Solanke's goal was perfectly legal. Thats what VAR is doing, rubber stamping incorrect decisions.

The cynic in me thinks things like our goal today being disallowed is on purpose to help support the case for VAR….
But all we want is good, unbiased officiating. It can’t be that hard can it? Especially if there is a “professional” team reviewing footage, using set guidelines..
I think, I have said this before, VAR is a good thing. They just need to implement it correctly and take away the clear bias for certain teams. There should be zero apologies by Var it should be 99% right.

Exactly. I'm not going down the rabbit-hole conspiracy theory that the VAR guys just raise issues dependant upon a particular team that's playing, it's the obvious problem that referees are basically accepting the premise that they're incorrect 98% of the time when asked to review a decision raised by VAR. If we were incorrect (or made 'clear and obvious' errors) in our decision making 98% of the time during our normal day to day jobs we'd be let go and told to look look for a new one. Appraisal time would be funny as fuck.

Yep in the premier when there is var referees just don’t give nothing the bloke in his earhole telling him how to referee the game! They should rip those ear pieces out there ears and tell them to referee the game and the linesman will have the ear piece for the offsides and to let the referee know about any other var decision! Then maybe the referees will improve there refereeing ability

People who are VERY pro-VAR will be like a dog with two sets of bollocks to lick tonight.

I think Shearer made a decent point t , for once.

Officials seem more inclined not to give the close calls / controversial decisions and are more than happy to leave that to VAR.

Marmoush goal was tight but you expect lines man to see it

The Newcastle Penalty was just beyond ridiculous

By the standards of some VAR decisions, the Marmoush one wasn't all that tight. He must have been the thick end of a yard onside. The non penalty at Villa was farcical.
