1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

A loan would suit us but whether or not it happens is another thing, we have already sold him once.
If it was a loan I would prefer it to be to someone like Brighton or whatnot, rather than a team that will be struggling near the bottom.
Will a team like Brighton definitely play him enough though, I’d rather him be in a relegation scrap than not playing every game :)

Interesting to finally hear from him directly, after all these months of noise and supposition.

I think we can all sympathise with his frustration, and his desire to play more than he is.

He’s an exceptional keeper, and at his age and this stage in his development, he clearly needs to be playing for a team that will use him for more than just FA Cup/League games.

It’s a real shame the timing just didn’t quite line up for him right at City - the Club clearly didn’t think he was quite ready to be fully trusted as our No 1, but he’s way too good to be our No 2.

These things happen - he’ll move on at the end of the season, and so will we.

I hope he looks back on this experience once the dust has settled, and the inevitable frustration has subsided, and sees it as an important one in his development.

He’ll have a great career, as he’s a very talented keeper.

Good luck to him!

I think the start did him no favors. He looked shaky and was at fault for the goal against Spurs. His distribution also looked shaky. He just looked too nervous to be starting week in week out for us. All in all I don't think we would be winning as many games if we had him as our starting keeper over Donnarumma. Donnarumma brings a leadership/confidence as well in the backline.
Poor timing for everyone involved. That said if he expected coming in and starting over Ederson, that wouldn't have been easy either this season.

He comes across as a bit of a mard arse. You’ve come to one of the best teams in the world and you expect to start every week. If you want that go and join Newcastle pal
He has come to play not warm benches

Warming benches at city is not some great achievement . We have reached a stage where players showing some ambition are name called

He’s not going on loan. He won’t be doing us any favours after what happened in the summer.
Players don’t want to be treated as loan commodities- some here think they do but it’s not actual truth - those who say loan him here loan him there will learn the hard way

It’s disrespectful to tell a quality player - Hey go there on loan and then you come back when we say - it doesn’t happen that way

That’s not solely down to him
Playing time is obviously the main thing but i bet he has never earned more in his life than he has with us this year, one of the main considerations for any job really, He has done really well for us since coming in for cup games etc... he may have also learned so much from the best shot stopper in the world, Loved Eddie but for very different reasons.. He may have loved this year under 'the don' who knows...
