1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

The push for a move has started
It’s not a surprise. He feels hard done by, I can understand why.

It will ok though, he will get his move in the summer, will be number 1 somewhere and certainly at a better side than when he last left the club.

As long as we get the right money for him (£60m?) it should work out for all parties.

He was never gonna be our first choice this season as Eddie was gonna stay so I don’t understand why he is not happy but maybe he thought next season he would be number one . Feel for him but he ain’t dislodging Gigi but hope he gets a great move

I’m sure he was told he’d be competing with Ederson who was sketchy at best last season. With the expectation being Ederson would leave this summer. We bought a top keeper who is coming into his prime years. Can understand his frustration but that’s top level football.

He comes across as a bit of a mard arse. You’ve come to one of the best teams in the world and you expect to start every week. If you want that go and join Newcastle pal
Think hes pissed off, but i agree he comes across a bit mard

Ultimately hes a young lad who has moved to arguably the best club in Europe following a season in the Championship

Shame if he moves on as i do rate him, but Donnarumma is on a completely different level

Why because he wants to play regular first team football and knows he has no chance here?
Just the way he speaks like playing for us in the cups is beneath him. He could win multiple trophies no shame in that

I appreciate that he’s pissed off. He was obviously sold a scenario that changed within a matter of weeks. I’d be pissed off too.

I don’t think he needs to be pushing anything in the media though. We don’t hold on to any player that wants to leave, so he doesn’t need to rock the boat and “force” a move. The only thing that his complaining might achieve, is him missing out on the cup games he would otherwise be guaranteed to start in.

He will get his move in the summer. He should just get his head down, keep performing and be respectful to the club that pays his wages.

Not really our decision though.Trafford clearly came here thinking he'd be number 1 either immediately or at worst next year when Ederson leaves, he didnt come here knowing we would then sign a 26 year old Yashin award winner weeks later.

He's got every right to be feeling unhappy and wanting out rather than agreeing to us asking for him to put his career on hold for an undetermined number of years.

He'll almost certainly leave permanently in the summer. We probably won't miss him in the immediate future but there will be a point where we look on at him doing well elsewhere and be envious we dont still have him.
Exactly this. The club did him dirty. He’ll go to Chelsea and smash it, take over for Pickford and the media will go crazy.

I’m not sure what good backup ball playing GK there is out there.

Still find it crazy because Trafford was an upgrade on Ederson’s shot stopping and with time he could improve his feet which are still better than Donnarumma’s.

If we win big trophies I guess it will all mean nothing.

Feel so bad for him.

Feel for him. Personally think we’d have been fine with him as our number 1 and he is only going to get better.

But when you’re handed one of - if not the - best in the world on a plate for a bargain price, you can’t turn it down. Especially when you factor in his age. I’d have had big questions over Viana if he had said no.

The only potential concern is that The Don doesn’t stick around and by that time Trafford is gone. But right now I’d rather take that chance.

Not impressed with his interview one bit - he hasn’t done anything like enough in his career to be seeing his arse - he got dropped by Burnley the last time he played in the Premier league but people seem to completely ignore this fact - got lots of attributes and may in time become a top keeper and the circumstances of us signing a World class keeper were unforeseen but that is life at a top club chasing all the honours .

Feel kind of sorry for him but no criticism of the club. Circumstances change. The only way of keeping him would be to increase his game time and share fixtures 50/50 but thats impractical and would piss Donna off. Shame though as three years from now we may well miss him and we will need to find a quality no 2.

I dont think hes done enough in his career to be coming across like that in interviews.
Why? He was clearly sold a particular vision and within a few weeks of his arrival the club moved the goalposts. He’s far too good to be a no.2 and, if I was him, I’d be royally pissed off too

Dont think we have much of a choice, but I cant help but think he's going to be a top keeper at one of our rivals. I dont supppse a one year loan would work, who knows when Donna wants to move.
