I would say someone who doesn’t recognise the threat that Reform demonstrates to our liberal way of life is more green than those that do.

No, whilst I am not totally impressed with Starmers government, he is at least taking small steps in the right direction to START to fix 14 years of self servatives ineptitude incompetence and corruption, and the Temu Tories would be even worse. But thankfully will NEVER form a government.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of this election to see how the influencers, or those who try, have done. Take yourself, you are left wing, who probably wants more funding in social sectors, like myself, but you don’t feel you will get that under Labour, and particularly Starmer.

The question is, will the Greens become government, or even have an influence on it?

I don't expect the Greens to form the next government, possibly a coalition partner, but a win for them in Gorton and Denton will put pressure on Starmers government not to drift any further right, and if the Greens continue to grow, could start the overton window moving back to centre after drifting further and further right since 1979.

Doesn’t look that way from how they’ve approached by-election. They probably think their policies are far closer to reforms than the Greens. As this Labour government and more importantly their many rich sonars are very much to the right.

Essentially, this "Labour would rather Reform win" claim is based on the fact that Labour are hardly likely to say "vote for whoever is best placed to beat Reform".

You seem to be blindly repeating the same old story that only Labour can beat Reform, without and sort of proof of it. Bookies and recent polls all put Greens as top and the only ones to stop them. Alot of people are very pissed off with Labour and Gwynne at the moment.

I voted green the last election so not a protest vote, but a choice.


The old 2 party system has destroyed itself from it's own hubris and commonality or ideology, much like the whigs over 100 years ago, labour and conservative have taken. their supporters for granted.

Unfortunately the right wing realised this quicker and have now established alternatives, dismissing the left doing the same and changing from a labour unrecognisable from itself nd choosing green may be more than a protest this time.

I don't know if the actual claim is true or not but if it is then I doubt that's the logic involved. More likely that losing to Reform, though very bad, is simply confirmation of the difficult fight they already know they have on their hands to try and recover some of their lost voters back from Reform. So in some ways business as usual. However a loss to the Greens will confirm that it's possible/likely they could bleed further significant support from the other wing of the party. So in that sense a Green win is much more of an existential crisis than a Reform win.
