Will we win the league this season? No

Don’t know if you watched much football these last 2 years but the league is shite . We’ve been gash and still in a title race .

2018-2023 city would be 15 clear of this Arsenal team already .
It's not 2018-2023 City though they've aged and gone it's a new City in a transition and still managing to compete on all 4 fronts.

Arsenal win it by 5-7 pts im afraid , we’ve been average at best .

2 pts out of 12 from Brighton and spurs tells me all I need to know
But we took 6pts off the current champions , and didnt we lose to Brentford twice and still win the title ?

Yeah I’ve watched a bit.

You know to be 15 points up on Arsenal we’d need to have won 25, drawn 1 and lost 1 of our 27 games!

22nd of march will have a huge psychological impact on which ever of us wins the league, so hope it’s us
I honestly don't think that it will - there's absolutely no reason that any coach or player with the correct mindset will see that as anything other than a one-off.
We beat Wolves - they didn't. So?
We didn't beat Spurs - they did. So?
Anybody letting a Cup Final either buoy or deflate their confidence for a nip-and-tuck title race like this just isn't made of the right stuff to win it.
Just my opinion, obviously - but why do you think that it will?

Potentially more cup games than league games left, it'll be some season if that pans out. The colour coding doesn't really mean much because all 3 teams have dropped unexpected points in the last few weeks, it's a rough guide.

The next 2 league games are so important for us, just need to stay in touch.

2 league games since last update, important notes:
- 2 extra CL games avoided for City.
- 2 points dropped for City but 2 hard games ticked off.
- 5 points dropped for Villa and some significant injuries.
- Arsenal's game v Wolves (A) has moved from March 21st to Feb 18th because of the League Cup Final. So they'll be ahead 1 game for a while. Unfortunately we were due to play one of the 3 English sides in a European playoff, so our game v Palace can't move to the same mid-week!

I said it was doable if we were within 6 after Liverpool...well we are, so here we go.

I'll add another caveat now. I think we need 15 points from our next 15, 13 probably still acceptable but we need to land another big punch, like the Anfield result and I think we need to be in a position to get 1st when we play them at the Etihad. They have a kind run of games to finish the season, we don't:

ArsenalCity
Brentford (A)Fulham (H)
Wolves (A)
Spurs (A)Newcastle (H)
Chelsea (H)Leeds (A)
Brighton (A)Forest (H)
Everton (H)West Ham (A)

I think on their day Newcastle and Leeds can be tricky, although we have a great record against Newcastle.
If they get 18/18 in the same time period, you just have to say fair play.

Nice FA Cup break before Arsenal play their extra game that got moved for the LC Final.

All eyes on the new Spurs manager, if they don't want that lot to win it, they need to show up a week on Sunday.

Quoted my old post so the progression is nice to see. Leaving Villa in as I can't be arsed changing it now.

Changes:
- City close the gap on Arsenal by 2 points, after another week in which they slip up.
- Both teams progress in the FA Cup, City getting one of the hardest draws, Arsenal get the easiest.
- City look likely to face Real Madrid or Bodo/Glimt in the next round of the Champions League.
- Arsenal look likely to face Leverkusen or Dortmund.
- Villa pretty much out of the conversation.

Big 10 days ahead, I think optimistically we'll be hoping to close the gap again with 2 comparatively easier fixtures. City play Saturday, Arsenal play Sunday. We not only play first but we avoid a midweek away game which I think can always be a bit dicey.

I think it is a season to early for us, we haven't yet established the consistency that our previous winners had. It takes a while for new players to pick up Pep"'s system as Guehi has admitted and he is England's first choice centre back. A fully fit Rodri plus another couple of additions in the summer and it will be back to the only team that can stop City is City. Still think that we will run the Gooners close though.
We might not currently have players that have the consistency of our previous title winners, however we're certainly no worse off than the gooners. Their players also have no consistency at winning the PL title (at least not for the last 22 years). ;-)

Arsenal win it by 5-7 pts im afraid , we’ve been average at best .

2 pts out of 12 from Brighton and spurs tells me all I need to know

Comparing points to Arsenal across the season is almost irrelevant in painting a picture.

We beat Liverpool and Arsenal went on to draw to Brentford and Wolves. I genuinely believe they wouldn't have done that had we lost at Anfield.

And it works both ways, we got battered off United and a half arsed Arsenal showed up at Forest the next day and drew.

It's in both of our hands, we have relatively comparable fixture lists from here on out but what the other team does will start to influence how the other team performs.

Battered us? Lol

Battered us 0-0.

I think the difference is that this version of Pep's City is more direct and far less possession based, and we've been spoiled by many years of controlling most games. Some people are overreacting to that.

I'm just pleased we're even competing cos earlier in the season I thought there's no chance we're gonna be in a title race.

Anfield aside we’ve been dreadful nearly every second half of every game . We won’t last the distant . We are flagging , last night they battered us second half
They didn’t. They hardly had a chance albeit they had as much possession. We had at least three better chances than they did in the second half.

Unlike many fans and social media Pep wouldn't have been looking at a London derby with Spurs as the opposition as the day the tide turned and we gained a significant advantage. The Arsenal fans, team and manager will have though. And that might just be the difference that actually gives us an edge.

A quick glance and in laymans terms based on watching footy for nearly 50 years,

They have more tougher matchweek fixtures than us,* a lot more actually.

(*Imo, their game is harder than ours on a matchweek)
