Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Watched the replay today after reading some of the above comments, expecting to see a dismal 2nd half. That did not happen, what I saw was a hard fought half between 2 teams putting it all out there. We had several great opportunities to score and I believe we will capitalize on these in upcoming games. Newcastle “threats” were basically long ball prayers dealt with by our D and keeper. Newcastle is a very talented team; if Pep was their manager they would be competing for the PL title. For those who compare this team to the 4-in-a-row team, that was a once in a lifetime team. And regarding Donnarumma compared with Ederson, I liked Ederson, but we are better off now.

Really happy, 3 hard fought points. Very important win.

I also know you can't have it all - good control, proper defence AND also sharp counter moves.
But honestly, our fast breaks are a bit concerning. The runs and most of all the too late passing is quite painful, for me at least.
Some room for improvement. Anyway.

Feet up and watching the league leaders tomorrow...
We don't have that player that makes the right pass at the right time when we break.

2nd time we have played Marmoush, Haaland and Semenyo as a front three. They really need to learn how to play with each other as they keep invading each others space.
Feels like a front two makes more sense - and probably would be the case when Doku / Savinho are available to provide the option of a wide player who can stretch play.

The half time substitution of Khusanov for Dias was a master stroke and probably won us the game. Was that down to Pep of did Lijnders bend his ear?
Dias was on a booking. To risky to leave him on against their pace.

Talking to a couple of Geordies in the pub before the game. We'd only been chatting for 3 to 4 mins before one of them started going on about 'empty seats'. Just what is it with this obsession they have ? They're a weird lot.
It's one of the negatives to throw at us.
Salford sold a quarter less of their allocation and were continuously referring to our empty seats.
It's the price of success for winning four in a row.
The 115 charges aren't mentioned as much recently so they moved on to Pep leaving and empty seats.
Hopefully it carries on meaning were still boiling piss. CTID

Excellent 2nd half, resisting and nullifying those pesky lanky lump Kickers. We should've won comfortably with better decision making on several breaks.

Those complaining have already changed their small clothes and linen?
