Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

It should be and it should be reported officially and publicly, with evidence of what was witnessed.

Labour’s share of the vote had already dropped in this seat in 2024 from its 2019 showing, but while Reform have swallowed the Conservative vote, they’ve not made significant inroads into the other vote shares. As I say, there is a lot of food for thought for all parties.
The have reported it officially, haven’t they? Like I say, it’s not THE deciding factor, Reform took the Tory vote and a few off Labour and Green took the rest off Labour in a former Labour strong hold, which was enough.

It’s difficult to see the mechanism by which that could be achieved, certainly in that order. It would presumably take a catastrophic showing in the May elections, Starmer resigning, and Burnham being fast-tracked into Westminster. Would existing MPs acquiesce? Would Burnham have the same appeal nationally that he enjoys locally?

Agree may elections will decide it I think and we all know week in politics is a long time..

Sorry bud I just ignored it because it’s not really true.

“It is therefore not a big philosophical jump to think that a world without borders would be possible and desirable, as it has been in the past.. however .. it is of course highly impractical for the UK to unilaterally remove our own border controls, and so we have the second part of the policy that we implement a fair and humane system of managed migration, and the rest our policies set out how this would look.”

Easy to find on the Green Party website. I understand GB news will have explained it differently.

Wish you all the best mate.
Do you not think the first part of their policy is a worrying position to start from? No major party has ever said that in our politics, but looking at their manifesto policies straight from their website, the bit in bold is key and results in millions more and would make the “Boris wave” look like nothing. It’s also encouragement to more migrants coming via illegal routes:
  • Welcome the contributions that migrants and refugees make to British society.
  • End the “hostile environment” policies that make life harder for migrants.
  • Abolish minimum income requirements for family/spouse visas.
  • Create safe routes to sanctuary for people fleeing persecution.
  • Replace the Home Office with a new Department of Migration, separating immigration from criminal justice.
  • End immigration detention except for those who are a danger to public safety.
  • Remove “no recourse to public funds” restrictions.
  • Allow asylum seekers to work while their case is decided.

They’ve reported it on their website, but it’s presumably too early for a thorough report to have been submitted.

Meanwhile, the collapse of the Conservative vote will likely see WD40 being applied to the hinges of the 1922 Committee postbox.

Thought so . I have grandkids and I worry for them because if we carry on like we are then this country will be finished .
It’s a safe left wing seat mate, it’s been Labour forever and has a sizeable immigrant population that has voted with the party that now represents them over everyone else.

This isn’t a sign of a general election, it was a Labour seat for decades, even when they were getting hammered.

There’s not a cat in hell’s chance the majority of the country vote for these lunatics and this forum isn’t representative of most of the country either.

Just for context mate Rupert Lowe from Restore also wants to abolish the minimum income requirement for spouses.

Most countries don’t have it.

It’s a rule that has separated BRITISH people from their chosen spouse. It has also separated BRITISH children from a parent. So maybe read a little bit more into that one because 1000s of Brits have been hurt by that rule.

Theres enough lunatic parties to go around now mate.

Just depends on which side of the lunacy you sit, in crayon terms, **** or fantasy?

Oh dear that smug dead eyed creep from reform will fuck off back to wherever he came from. As a couple of British born Asians who work in the Civil Service, with our daughter, nieces and nephews working in the NHS, to be told by this cosplay fascist **** we're not British, swivel on that you contemptible twat.

Probably lost in passing that yaxley lennon is being greeted as a hero by the US State Department right now. But yeah let's pussy up to president prima Donna permatan, cos that's worked out well so far!

Anyway great victory for Hannah, hope she can do some good.

He didn’t tell you weren’t British, and Robinson is barred from Reform.

Carry on though.
