Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

I would rather a Green MP than Reform. Reform would destroy the country for their own enrichment if they got a whiff of power not a reform fan the Greens are dangerous in a different context, Reform will come again

Were reform ever going to win? Were they ever going to swing a very left wing area right?
Its been left wing forever.
I think reform will see the result as a positive in so much of the amount of votes they got, there will be much more right leaning constituencies that will swing right away from tory rather than left from labour
Bang on. In areas of Manchester too.

People talk about a North / South divide in the country, there's one in Manchester!

Are you using 2021 census data there? Th
The green’s literally campaigned on “give Starmer a kick for Gaza”, which was shameful in my opinion, and released their recent campaign video in Urdu. All the polling showed white Brits were significantly coming out for Reform.

When we get to a general election, bordering seats, which are more white Brit, will be reform, that will be the evidence to prove you wrong.
Immigration since 2021 isn't going to make any difference, as none would be able to vote. Unless they had a large new Hongkonger community.

Great to see the racists and grifters of Reform massively outvoted.
I wouldn't say that; they doubled their vote share from an already small pool of Tory voters.

The Greens look like they got the majority share of Labour votes, 10k, to give them 14k.
And it's not like 5k tories suddenly swapped votes and more likely they got them from apathetic voters who were done with both Labour and Conservatives and have found a party for them to vote for. That's concerning.

Heidi 'fingers-in-ears' Alexander claiming it's 'normal' for governing parties to lose seats in by-elections.

Not safe seats, it's not!
Er....
2023:.
Labour’s Alistair Strathern and Sarah Edwards cruised to victory in the seats of Mid Bedfordshire and Tamworth, overturning Tory majorities of nearly 25,000 and 20,000, respectively.

Great to see the right of this forum having a melty in this thread too, tbh.

Misrepresenting the Green's policies whilst pretending Reform and the wide majority of their voter base are anything but what they are is pretty funny too.

Reforms biggest threat for winning the election in 2029 is thousands of their voters going to Restore. If Restore wasn’t a thing they would win the next election and I don’t think it would be close. Seems like we’ve got a split in voters for the left side and a split for the right. Mad time for politics in this country.

I very much doubt that traditional non-voters turned out in great numbers.

We won’t be a fascist country if Reform get in, it is absolutely hysterical to believe that.

100% after two or three years we would be. Steve Bannon has worked on the rise of Reform, just as he helped Trump. It's the same playbook.

They have no policies other than being anti-immigration. If (big if), they were to manage to get that under control what do you think they'd do next?

They will find other minorites to hate. That will probably be the disabled or the unhealthy. They'll then use that as an excuse to bring in a form of Health insurance that does nothing but make everyone poorer and worse off. And all the time pointing at minorities and blaming them for all the problems.

It's all very well when it's not your turn to be targeted, but a lot of people will realise too late that it will be them at some point.

That’s absolutely hysterical mate, I don’t think you actually believe all that
