Will we win the league this season? No

This is a mad stat, if true. Something we ideally need to improve on if we’re going to go all the way.

Mad stat indeed.

It kind of shows that we are still a young developing team and no longer have guaranteed match winners on the bench like we once used to, regardless of how promising and quality they are.

Cherki is a generational talent, but he isn't at the level yet where when he comes off the bench I know something is almost guaranteed to happen.

Mahrez and Alvarez for example, when they came off the bench I knew they were going to do damage.

Today’s scandalous draw reduces our chances somewhat

We have 4 tumultuous games to endure in the last 16 and QF while Arsenal are playing pub teams comparatively speaking.

IMO it wouldn’t be the end of the world if we lost to Madrid and could thus pretty much concentrate on the league leaving Arsenal to tire themselves out going deep in this absurd competition and losing to eventual winners Spurs in the semi final.

Wolves v villa tonight mean we have a 5 point cushion and a game in hand on 1st and 3rd place. Just need 3 points at Leeds.

we need to win 9 or 10 from last 11 games. with sick CL draw and FA cup and Carabao adding up in March, we absolutely cannot afford mistakes in games like Leeds, Forest, WHU etc.

i would fucking love if Chelsea can get something vs Arse tomorrow, but the London rivalry is a big fucking joke, look at Spurs bending over to them last week. while rags played like possessed + new manager bounce vs City few weeks ago. Spurs new manager bounce was nowhere to be seen last week.
now Rosenior already played two games in Carabao vs Arse and lost both. and failed to beat Burnley last round.
but wait until we visit Chelsea...

all we can do is win today to apply bit of pressure for Arse-Chelsea game later on. fail to beet Leeds and so much extra motivation for Arteta to extend their lead.

The champions league could sway which way it goes with both teams having to manage games in between league fixtures. Our tough draw maybe a blessing as far as the league is concerned, if we get knocked out it leaves City concentrating on the league which helped us get over the line in 2022.

If that Spurs 2H equalizer had not been very dubiously chalked off, it could have looked very different

That Khusanov lad is seriously rapid! I thought he was excellent when he came on.
Don’t know why pep doesn’t play him every game, maybe because he was earlier in the season prone to panic a little and made a few big errors but last dozen games when he’s come on he’s been great and it gives us that prime walker recovery speed when needed.

Over their last 38 PL games:

City 80 pts, GD + 43
Arsenal 80 pts, GD + 42
Better than best team in the world Arsenal then :)

Still, 80 points pace for a season is low and obviously so far away from our best years. But we are ticking away nicely and there is demonstrably an upward trend in recent ppg.

Here's the form table for the last 3 months and, if we win today, we will have pulled back (again) 5 of the 7 points maximum deficit at one point to Arsenal. Not bad considering the numerous narratives in the media and on here about defensive vulnerability, 2nd half performances, no control, lack of consistency, Arsenal still favourites etc etc

Fatigue might catch up with us but we've already proved we have the mentality of champions

Rodders is improving every game, if him and Bernie can control games like the old days as they've been showing signs of doing then it's coming home

Calling it now if we go out against Madrid in Europe I think we breeze it and honestly I’m kind of ok with that. Arsenal are probably going to go deep in Europe and although they will face lower quality opposition those matches are still going to catch up with them.

In the last 7 game City have been on form closing the gap on a stumbling Arsenal from 7 points to 2 points.
