Wolves Thread 2025/26

Great first goal - only his second in his professional career according to the commentary.
Only two points needed to beat Derby County's record low points total of 11 in the 2007-08 season.
Wolves should manage that easily and will hopefully be in good shape for a Championship campaign next season.

The escape is still on!

;-)
We wish but what a night it was at Molineux tonight, place was rocking like the old days. If anyone had said we were going to take 7 points from 9 in 3 home games against Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool they'd have been carted off!

It's been a horrible, wretched season and terrible to be a part of. Many Wolves fans have turned off from football completely after witnessing this season but recently we have finally had something to smile about

Keep that form up and you never know. Some turnaround!

If they even get above thirty points it will be some achievement, fair play to them.

Although it is a head scratcher, like when we played Leeds at home. If they had that in them then why was it so miserably buried for months?

Seems wolves can set themselves up for championship life if they do go down, with a couple of big player sales and a rebuild in Edward's style.

For me, they’ve been turning in performances that have belied their league position for months. It all seemed to start around the time of that injury-time defeat at Arsenal before Christmas. Even before that, I felt they were a better side than their points haul suggested. Few teams have given them a hammering this season. I can only think of our 4-0 win there on the opening day - and to be fair, they had a fair few chances in that one and caused us some problems - and United’s 4-1 away win where it was 1-1 at half-time.

Correct. Those 2 are the ones where we consider we were really battered and that's it.

I do feel we are in a false position. We were let down early on by a manager who had seemingly downed tools, a no.9 who was sulking as he had missed out on his move and silly defensive errors which kept on being punished - even last night Bellegarde's error gifted the ball to Salah who then went on to score

14 points in 12 games since the turn of the year. Stretch that PPG ratio out over a full season, and they'd have 44 pts, avoiding relegation by a distance (last season, it would have seen them finish in 13th place). Yes, I know; every season is different and you can't assume anything given the previous season's overall results. But it gives a rough idea of what you could expect. My point is, they've got the basis of a strong side to build on, provided they can keep hold of the manager (likely, I think) and their better players. Reasons to be optimistic for our resident lupines on here, I think. Though the probable relegation will sting when it happens.

It will sting especially with the form we’ve shown lately, but we’ve had months to prepare and Edwards was appointed for the championship next season, the club have no excuse not to hit the ground running for the champs campaign. it’s our 150th anniversary next season, fingers crossed for a speedy return.

The appointment of Edwards certainly seems to have done the trick. He's stabilised the team, and given them some self belief. Something which was lacking under Pereira and at the back end of O'Neil's time in charge. You have cause to be optimistic of a double celebration next season.

Didn't think you've been around as a club for that long. Beats our 18 years, that's for sure!

1877 and founder members of the Football League!

Relegation won't sting so much as been prepared for it for a long time now though there is a strong feeling of 'what might have been', different to being involved in a survival scrap to the end of the season and going down on goal difference.

The point last night equalled Villa's lousy 17 points in 2015 and puts us ahead of several other shit teams so we have that monkey off our backs. Hopefully finish above Burnley now and not look so bad as it could have.

Recently we have come back from 2-0 down to draw with Arsenal, beaten Villa 2-0 and Liverpool 2-1 then come back from 2-0 down away to Brentford last night. As Carragher said, we are not as poor as our league position suggests. We were crippled by a disinterested manager in Pereira and a wantaway Strand Larsen, also if Rob could have picked up some points in his first 8 games (lost them all) we would have some kind of chance now.

I do think thought that this team will be ripped apart in the summer. Though they have all been complicit in this shit show, quite a few will consider themselves 'too good' for The Championship and will be looking to leave. Will be interesting to see what happens in the summer.

Hopefully we shall only be away for one year...
