Ok. Seems like you’ve had more to drink than me, so fair play - but to my main point of I would prefer variety in our CL draws, do you have anything to say or all we leave it here?
I think it’s better than the old system where we played everyone twice in the group stages.

Also I’m surprised I don’t like chocolate cake as much as I should because I like chocolate and cake.

Chocolate cake is a little overrated in my view, particularly if it has chocolate icing - that’s over kill

Yes the most recent of the group stages could get dull you couldn’t play a group team in the first knockout. Which, I think, is as about as separate you can get so I would like them to do that

Obviously, once you get to the last 8 then all bets are off because there are only so many teams in that space

I know we are at home in the 2nd leg vs Madrid - does anyone know the home teams in the QF or SF for the second leg or is this not determined yet?

If we get through;

Home first leg in the quarter final
Home second leg in the semi final

We did it the hard way last time and we ca do it again this time, leg Arsenal, leg the rags, leg the dippers, leg the PL, leg UEFA. We’re winning the lot.

Looking at our run of fixtures across March and April, that is as tough as I think we have ever had it and it will be almost certain Pep gambles with the FA Cup game at Newcastle with a weakened team.

I think he will be tempted to write that game off to be honest.

Just not convinced we have the team to fight on that many fronts.
I agree about Pep's possible thoughts but bear in mind that Newcastle have other priorities too. They play Barcelona on the Tuesday following the FA Cup tie and that's going to play a big part in how they approach things. Also they're in danger of missing out on Europe altogether next season unless their league form improves. Top five is probably beyond them now but they'll still need to push for a possible EL place.

They finished top of the table in the group phase.
People keep saying this, but the draw format doesn’t really reward this. They were still a 50:50 coin flip from being in our half of the draw. And we were also a coin flip away from being on the easier side. They haven’t got this as a reward, they were just luckier than us in the draw.

I agree mate, but I was thinking more long term.

I don't think we can afford to get another fixture with Arsenal or Liverpool for example in the FA Cup on top of the fixtures we already have in the CL and league post Newcastle game if we beat them.

We are not that team yet in my opinion.

Personally I am happy we made the League Cup final so would happily sacrifice the FA Cup now to focus on winning one of the league or CL.
