But that was RM minus Mbappe and multiple first choices, I think. They are usually more vulnerable in group matches, as well.

Nevertheless, we just have to approach this as a chance to beat Madrid 3 times in a single season. Their defence can be leaky, too.

Avoiding the Arctic odyssey in the middle of a title race is another plus. Can't remember exactly who was injured last time but we're in better shape ourselves now and have added Guehi and Semenyo.

They are really pushing for Arsenal this season, aren't they? Piss easy road to the final, meanwhile all the other heavy hitters are cramped together on the other side of the path.

Looking at our run of fixtures across March and April, that is as tough as I think we have ever had it and it will be almost certain Pep gambles with the FA Cup game at Newcastle with a weakened team.

I think he will be tempted to write that game off to be honest.

Just not convinced we have the team to fight on that many fronts.

Get where you're coming from.
A couple of points in our favour though.
Newcastle have a tough game vs Barcelona on the Tuesday after the Saturday Cup tie against us and IF we can stay injury free we can put out a very decent second string team now to face the barcodes.

Yes more exciting but not better. This link gives you an idea, though I would put City third (consensus). Bayern 2020 were good too. Most rankings have the same top 5 but in different orders, after that they vary.

I saw Pep’s Bayern live v City when we beat them 3-2 with an Aguero hatrick. We were lucky to win and even with 10 men they were astonishing. Robben was terrifying.

So this season's Arsenal side is the 8th best team in history? I'm a Gooner and even I know that's absolute bollocks.

Madrid, who would've guessed?

Sick of facing them. UEFA must love the money this fixture brings.

UEFA are so desperate to fix the league they openly explain how seeding works and outline in detail which clubs can play each other. The cocky bastards.
And they spent the past couple of weeks just like they'll spend the next couple, laughing at fans who don't understand how the tournament works even though it's been explained a million times.

They finished below us. Maybe we wouldn't have shot ourselves in the foot if we'd finished lower
Better or worse, either would have done
If we had drawn with Madrid we wouldn't be playing them at this stage or got 1 more point in the league phase we wouldn't be playing them either.

I hope you are right but we had the third best football team the World has ever seen in 2023 imho.
Possibility the most relentless, best I've seen were also definitely one of the the most boring - Capello's AC Milan team of the early '90s.

What I'd give for that back line - or even just Baresi and Maldini.

Not as good as this season's Arsenal side according to that ELO table.....
