Breaking fast during football

Two minutes during a natural break in the game is no issue, though I have seen Leeds fans on social media trying to say the boos were because our players were getting advice from Pep
They started the boos as soon as the ref blew for it

What does that actually mean? That we shouldn't allow Muslim players to break their fast during a game?

They can ask for water, why designate it?
Although some time ago in 1991 Michael Jones refused to play on a Sunday.during a RWC world.

Have any other religions asked for it?
The church didn’t want football or rugby to be played on Sundays due to it being the Sabbath, and both went against it. Although for a while it was against the law for clubs to charge for entry on Sundays.

In Northern Ireland, players used to refuse to play on Sundays.

Felt a bit performative with the purposeful stoppage of play and putting it on the screen. ‘Ooh look at us, we observe some bollocks for some made up spaghetti armed jelly man who lives behind the Moon’… as silly as Brazilians always wearing t-shirts telling us all that they ‘Belong to Jesus’.

Ramadan breakfast isn’t a stage performance that football needs to stop for. Just sling them a drink when someone goes down injured and don’t make such a big deal out of it.
This is probably where I am. I’m no fan of Islam, I don’t want it’s ideology becoming a central theme in our lives in this country, but I am a fan of Cherki, RAN, Marmoush etc. and they needed a drink, Leeds agreed to it, so get on with it.

Ultimately two of them, not long after, did a lovely bit of play to get us the winner so purely from that view, it’s a positive from my perspective.

A lot of people don’t have a problem with the Muslims, it’s the Islam they have a problem with.

For me personally, I feel a bit sorry for the Muslims, the people themselves, who’ve been conditioned from before they could fully form their own opinions, into believeing in it.

The more I actually learn about the Islam, the ideology, the more I dislike it.

I feel the same about all religions, but respect every individual's right to their own beliefs.

As I see it, there was absolutely no need for an arranged break in play yesterday, as players could have 'broken fast' at the next natural break in play. It wasn't as though the players involved had a three course meal.

The arranged break made a mountain out of a molehill and, as usual, brought out the worst in some people. Whoever made the request or decision must have realised that it had the potential to be a 'red rag to a bull' in the current world situation.

It’s been happening since 2021. Why’s it suddenly an issue now?

Without getting to involved, I wonder if the fa will take action against Leeds. Is this racist or just against a certain religion.

Im not religious in anyway shape or form but if others are its up to them, I'm not bothered.
Why would the FA take action against it?

They might give Easter eggs out during the next water break against Forest.

Shaw would be happy.

The issue is that a religion is getting special treatment when no other religion does.
It had minimal impact, in the second half Stach had an energy gel and that didn’t impact the game either. All that’ll happen if it isn’t permitted is somebody like Donnarumma will feign injury so his teammates can break their fast.

Nothing to do with this thread but what a player he was, one of the best ever to play the game

Special treatment ? Which other religion fasts or was denied permission to break fast ? Did they even ask for this to happen perhaps the league came up with it or the clubs asked for it rather than the players ?
