This has been happening with evening games during Ramadan for a few years now, and a water break has to happen in both halves or not at all.

I was at the game and I do think there was a bit of confusion about what the stoppage was for at the beginning at least in the city end. The screen was behind the fans and so weren’t aware of the message. Not making excuses for those who could see the message!

I’d never previously noticed it either but that’s because it was the first game I was at where it’s happened and I don’t tend to watch other teams on the box apart from City.
