I’d just go back to first principles. It was a tool to help refs make better decisions. Use it that way. Not on corners or bookings or throw ins and workout. Red cards goals and offsides. No lines. When I was still an active ref the offside law stated only parts of the body that you can score with should be considered for offside. Doesn't seem to be the case nowadays.How can a player's arm be offside? The equipment is not even 100 per cent accurate because of the way it captures the moment when the ball is played. No allowance is made for the frame speed.
I can't understand why the referees are not taking control of matches any more. That Burnley offside was ridiculous. The margin of error in the technology is not being allowed for. And why are players beng allowed to foul at corners. Yesterday Gabriel climbed all over a Chelsea defender pushing him head down while another Chelsea defender was pinned back by his arms by another Arsenal player. This would have been penalised anywhere else. The VAR officials are controlling matches. Everyone on here predicted Howard Webb would be a disaster as PGMOL chief but I have been amazed at how incompetent he has been.
