Adam Wharton

We’ll have to give Reijnders another season and see how he adapts.

Rodri, NOR, Nico G and Anderson would be a formidable 4 to pick from for 2/3 spots, with the third being alternated with Foden, Cherki, Reijnders etc.

Is Wharton better than Foden or Cherki? For me, not for £70m.
Wharton plays in a different role than Foden, Cherki, and Reijnders. The crew you named would be mint. I'm only bringing in Wharton IF Rodri were to leave...

So you don't think a pairing of Wharton and NOR would work? My point is Wharton is a 6 in the deep lying playmaker mode as is Rodri. While an excellent 8, Anderson is not a deep lying 6.
Anderson is an 8 but has the skill set to play as a 6, although I think that would be a waste of his best assets.

Wharton is a 6 but imo couldn’t play as an 8. Imo he lacks the up and down the pitchness and isn’t blessed with elite ball carrying ability.

Midfield 3 of Rodri, NOR and Anderson would be outstanding.

Wharton would be a great shout if we are looking at moving Gonzales on.

So if Rodri were to leave it would be NOR, Anderson, and Nico G? And if Nico G were to be unavailable at any time then what? Anderson and NOR behind Foden or Cherki? Is that enough cover? If Rodri leaves I'm getting Anderson and Wharton. As much as I love Bernardo I'm not in favor of extending his deal and I'm not keeping a banged up Kova around either.
How about this? If Rodri leaves a midfield of NOR, Nico G, Anderson, Wharton, and Cherki, Foden, Reijnders, Echeverri as attacking midfield options. 5 forwards, 5 CBs, 3 FBs, 3 keepers. 24 total.

Rodri, NOR, Anderson, Foden, Cherki absolutely mate. I’d keep Bernardo if he fancies staying, but rumours are he’s getting off.

I wouldn’t continue with Reijnders, Kovacic or Lewis. I don’t think they’re elite players.

My ideal addition would be Szlobozlai but I accept that’s probably highly unlikely.

Aside from him, in the PL, I like these midfielders:

Guimares
Caicedo
Wharton
Gibbs White
Tonali
Maddison (if can stay fit)
Dewsbury Hall

I’d probably also trust Nunes in midfield in certain games, now he’s finally found his feet and looks assured.

I’d also have my eye on Summerville (West Ham) as a bit of a bargain left field one, if they go down. Not a midfielder but a fucking cracking player, desperate for better quality around him.

That's an impressive list. I'd add Alex Scott to the list. He's been impressive whenever I've seen him.
My left field one is also at Bournemouth, Alex Jimenez. Someone who is primarily a RB but can also play in various other roles. Someone to back up Nunes. He was very impressive matched up one on one with Doku earlier this season...

I agree totally on Jiminez- thought that when we played Bournemouth and has always been impressive in the few games I have seen him play.

Alex Scott is HIGHLY thought off at City mate. Very close second choice to Anderson.

Think Madrid have a cheapish buyback on him?
That is certainly possible...but I really like his profile. A young player who could step in to rest Nunes a bit and cover if Nunes gets injured without us having to change how we play which at this time we aren't capable of doing. Also versatile enough to fill in at some other positions.

Do you actually have sources at the club? Your posts as of late make it seem like you know the top dogs or something.

My brother goes in the chairmans suite a lot where there is always chatter with the big wigs and as i mentioned when the Guehi deal was happening, my late dads best mate has a nephew called Bobby Manzi who is the top Palace journalist? He then mentioned to me about that Viana had spoken to Brentford as well about a price and deal for Kayode and if i ask him something then he says he will ask the top man in the particular area of that club? The Alex Scott one though was straight from a top club official that Pep and Hugo LOVED Alex Scott and felt he would be an excellent now and long term addition to the group but Anderson was the main target. Nothing changed there and now depends on price for Anderson if Forest stay up or go down . He has release clauses anyway and it seems they are £75m standard but also a relegation clause of £50m.

Yes he’s looked very decent for them and has played both full back positions,
Madrid did have a buyback but looks like Bournemouth have actually taken up the permanent option/obligation for around £18-20m
