47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

I feel a bit sorry for Phil because he was put out to dry tonight by Pep. Pep removed his protection. He is now a year older than when Daveed joined us. Perspective can go either way here.

Where to though? A loan potentially. Feels strange, but what can the club do.
Loan abroad maybe. Not sure how that would work financially for us but I just think it’s best for both parties to move on. We certainly can’t make him one of our top earners which is what he would want

we cannot carry him. he is poor and this has been going on since quite some time now. however since I saw some documentary about how he enjoys going alone fishing and forget about everything else, looked like a young guy under lot of stress, pressure, dont know maybe having "1 million" kids at a young age does that and its surely busy at home vs others at his age with no kids having different lifestyle.

but his fotball dropped of a lot since 23-24 season. he had very little good patches since. now back to bench I guess for crucial games coming up and risking his WC place also not gonna help him. but these displays aint winning over Tuchel I bet. or maybe he goes to WC but sits on the bench 90% of the time. plays within himself, doesnt concentrate enough off the ball etc.
out of form but this becomes the norm for him.
Not surprised he likes to go fishing which also provides an insight into his mindset. Three young kids and counting at his age also creates its own problems .

He was rubbish but singling him out specifically is harsh. Cherki was equally as rubbish, so was semenyo, so was Haaland and indeed Doku in the short time he had on the pitch. The problem tonight wasn't any 1 individual it was crap tactics and a piss poor mentality
Cherki wasn't equally rubbish, he created a few chances including the opening goal.

Cherki? The guy who set the goal up, and the only one that looks like creating meaningful
Opportunities.

Madness to put him in the same breath as Phil tonight.

He had some flashes of quality but he’s just a ghost 99% of the time now unfortunately. Absolutely weak as piss these days and I think he’ll be off in the summer.
He’s going no where will sign a contract extension

This is alarming, no two ways about it. I love Phil and he has had some amazing moments and is an amazing player. But he has a year left on his deal. This job is not about what you have done for us, it's about what you have done for us lately, and for the last 18 months it has not been good enough.

He was crap mate, the first goal okay he gets an assist for it but it was an awkward pass that semenyo did superbly well to finish, hardly gave it him on a plate.

You can maybe put him just above foden if you wanted to rank them, I wouldn't argue with that. My point wasn't about the semantics of who was the worst, but that ultimately, all of our attackers were well short of acceptable.

And for me, when everybody is crap, I focus less on individual performances and look more at the wider tactical plan as there is often a reason why the entire team of top talent were dogshit for 98 minutes.

He certainly isn’t going to get the big renewal he wants based on the last two seasons. I think there might be a serious conversation in the summer if he doesn’t snap out of it, given his contract status

Absolute rubbish. The blame is on Pep for me for picking him. He has done nothing to deserve being recalled. Nothing.
Said that as soon as I seen the team. He should be on the bench and when we have games won bring him on the last 10/5min and make him work to get back in the team

Correction: was an amazing player

What renewal?
He should be a player that takes the ball and creates something from nothing, he should be one of spine players in this team.
