Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

In retrospect think we were good yday, minus foden and bernardo. the forest goals were vv lucky. if pep subs nico g (our best player 1st half of the season) for bernardo and NOR is fit we're still winning some silverware this season.

Thought we played ok and controlled the game. Yes it was boring and lots of passing, but Forest were very compact, was hard to get through. They scored from 2 mistakes where we gave the ball away cheaply while attacking in their box. Can't remember but sure it was Cherki both times, 2nd time with Phil trying a back heel.

Semenyo apart from the goal was poor, He looked lost when they scored their second, and we probably need both Savinho and Doku on earlier to run at them. Did more in last 15 mins offensively than whole game. Savinho should of buried that last chance as Pep had to console him. Felt for him

The drop of from the treble squad and seasons before is alarming.
We should be thankful the pl has been poor the last two seasons.
Up until that Sunderland game City were playing with freedom, tricks, quick one touch football. Then Cherki did that cross for Foden to head in.
Pep said he didnt like to see that.
City then went back to pass, pass, back, back, pass, pass.
I honestly feel if City had carried on playing in the style before that Sunderland game we would have walked the league.
The players look scared to make the wrong pass, or take a risk, its safety first.

Semi scores goals but I havent much much else from him. Even he plays safe. I thought he was a flying winger who scored goals, i havent seen the flying winger part of his game.

You didn't see Semenyo beating his man and putting the best cross of the game right across the Forest six yard box last night then ??? In fact if Haaland and his mates hadn't of been so slow in both anticipating and reacting to it, it would have ended up in a certain goal!

I was wondering after last night, very sadly I might add, if the wheels might just come off our season in the next couple of weeks.
No guarantee we beat the Barcodes again, then we've got the shithousery of madrid to look forward to.
If we don't up our game considerably, by the morning of 18th March we COULD be looking at a pile of rubble. Equally we up our game and things look much brighter.
C'mon blue boys which version of you is going to rock up?????
oh get a grip thats football
if my auntie had wheels she'd be a bike

we couldve been not even in one competition to start with and out both cups in first round but in champions league places is now strangly classed as great season

Just when I'm feeling pissed off with the result the rags lose at Newcastle to cheer me up. Wonder if Newcastle fan Carick was happy to see them beat his employers.

We've done alright since the Rags, don't forget they beat Arse too, away

People comparing us to our better versions are wasting their time.

Arse are nothing special either.

Arsenal had a bit of rocky spell, but have since won three games 'on the trot' in a pressurised title 'run in' situation (two of them away from home) ..... that's a good reaction, some might say even a title winning reaction !

Still can't believe what was going on inside his head with nearly bringing Ake on lol!
We have handed the trophy to a shit Arsenal team .
so you know who had knock wanted to come off couldnt be arsed playing all because ake was stripped
khush came on at full back nunes went into midfield so thats i guess on your thinking is losing plot

... young Phil ....
Sadly, he is no longer "young Phil" and should be joining the ranks of senior players, influencing the team and stepping up to win games. In contrast, Nico O'Reilly is a young player who does have a big impact in games.

Foden is not alone with some of our signings who should be at their peak being not up to City standards which doesnt help our younger players.

We have let not only ourselves down but the whole footballing community. Assuming arsenal dont bottle this then the whole world will have to endure arsenal fan tv ... its times like this that makes me envy the people living in north korea who dont have access to the internet!

I see the attacking Semenyo we bought from Bournemouth has already been turned into a start, stop, pass sideways, pass backwards, winger. Thankfully he is still scoring goals.
We are so boring to watch with passes going nowhere most of the time .

This. It’s absolutely appalling game management from Pep. It wasn’t really the best tactic at the start of the season but it’s borderline negligent to persist with it so late into a season where it’s never worked.

I knew we were in trouble when Pep made a comment about the amount of passes we played at Leeds and still won.

We used to kill teams, 4/5/6/7 goals. Now we get 1 or 2 and try and see a game out. It’s boring, it’s shit and it doesn’t work because we don’t have enough of those type of ball retaining players anymore.
At one point last night we had 94% possession.

But “dont have enough ball retaining players”.

We should have beaten Forest last night. We had the chances, including a couple in the last few seconds but like the Brighton game we couldn't take them.
The first goal should have been prevented. Weak losing of possession and defending when the ball came into the box was pretty bad. That goal was totally preventable. The second, although a great strike, he should have been closed down.
The Haaland foul was a clear penalty. Nine out of ten times it's given. The tenth? It's the City decision, the fuckers hate giving us anything. The Rodri foul was a possibility too.
Small margins and bad luck are costing us. Arsenal appear to be getting the rub of the green lately, we're not.
Any chance of winning the title is probably gone now. At least we've given Arsenal a run for their money while we're rebuilding and new players adjusting. Whats other team's excuse? Without us the premier league would have been even more boring than it's been this season.
Id still love it if Arsenal's good fortune deserts them and ours improves snd we somehow pip them but it's extremely unlikely

Arse are a lot less convincing than us. Their football is the most boring and turgid shit I've ever seen from a team challenging for the title. Don't be surprised if they have another wobble.

What annoys me about the penalty is that those are usually just given. Players have bought contact for years on them and there’s not been a change in stance/ruling on whether that makes it a pen or not.

If there’s contact, it’s a penalty. And there was.

Fully agree. People calling it soft are deluded. He makes obvious contact. I even posted a picture of Sels clattering him completely. There has a been a ridiculous amount of penalties not given to us.

I don’t even know how we got the one at Anfield considering recent decisions.

Semenyo has been here 5 minutes.

Sky said he’s scored 6 in 9 since arriving.

Not sure what else you want?

He changed his mind after we scored .
Ake where would he of played if he came on ? Leftback or left Centre half
