Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

It’s absolutely shite. Half empty with 10 to go, title race?? “Is there a fire drill” chant the away end.

Then you see the scenes at the end @ SJP. Pep and the players will all be thinking the same thing.
I joined in with the Forest fans singing ‘is there a fire drill?’. Got a few ‘fuck offs’ but it was well worth it.

Like it or not, the game dictates the atmosphere. Was decent in parts tonight but when we start passing for the sake of it for a period of time it just drains any atmosphere we have
Even so, what kind of fan leaves a game when its on a knife edge? It's so bizarre and it's unique to City (given the circumstances that we're in a title race). We really seem to struggle without our fans support.

I so agree with this. I remember speaking to David Bernstein and he was worried about the expansion risk of moving to the Commonwealth Stadium, as it then was going to be. Obviously, all before we became part of a Global Football Franchise (umm...) He also said that the moment you see an empty blue seat on TV on a key match day, then you invite the more casual, less committed fan to simply pick and choose. Obviously, he was also speaking well before the aberration of the 'Instagram Tourist'.

I have always thought we have a 30-35,000 loyal, proud and passionate base - and even after a decade plus of unimaginable success I really don't believe we have really grown this base.

Pricing, treatment of season ticket holders, legacy fan neglect, game scheduling lottery, corporate hospitality priorities, tourists, the game day experience have all pissed off a load of that legacy base, and whilst I appreciate the 18-25 allocation (who seem to love singing on the concourse, and then largely remain silent once they get to their seats), I have never had an issue with being a club of this size, deeply connected with the community.

But I get that, as an investment propostion, that’s simply not going to work in the sorry state of today’s football. I can’t wait to see the empty North Stand.

Grumpy by name – grumpy by nature.

And as for those that left eary last night. I am sure you all had great reasons, and of course it’s your right to go when you want. But jesus, as a City fan, have you learn’t nothing about the importantce of added time? I only wish we would have got that final scramble over the line, not only for the points, but to shame those that fucked off early. I respect anyone can do what they like – but really???? (and I commute for every home game from London).
Because basically the cunts that fucked off early at 2.2 in about the 84th minute are NOT City fans...end off...it's just a day/night out...They're not arsed if we win or lose......... unfortunately that's City's plastic fanbase.....now let's compare it to teams likes of the rags and the dippers....they ain't from Manchester or Liverpool but to be fair they actually CARE about their club.....

To be fair to City it will take a lot longer than 17 years or so to replicate what the others(rags/dippers) have got........

The amount of people who are desperate to get off as soon the clock hits 85 minutes is fucking embarrassing. As I said I can understand if we’re battering someone or getting hammered ourselves but to just fucking leave and give up to get home a little bit earlier at 2-2 in a title race is a joke. If we scored that chance in the last minute there would have been about 35-40k in the ground who’d have seen it. Embarrassing
The simple facts are....if we'd scored that goal deep into injury time the CUNTS(they are not PROPER City fans) who'd fucked off wouldn't have cared less that they'd missed a City winner....and that's a FACT.

It wasn’t bad in SSL3 last night, you always seem to leave us out when you say where the noise comes from. That said I agree with the rest of your point.
I think people should be respected for making noise wherever they sit. Me and my 2 lads in the family stand join in with every song and it isn’t our fault that the vast majority always sit on their hands. We also stay and clap the players off and wait until the last player has left the pitch. The fact that 90% of our fan base across the whole ground don’t join in the songs is a disgrace and do is the fact the ground is 90% empty at or just after the final whistle is too, and the south stand is half fucking empty at the final whistle. Our fans used to be the best in the league, not even close any more

That’s the problem with a big stadium, and it’ll get worse next year. You get a lot of people not that arsed that come along, there was an article this week about Elland Road being the best home ground for atmosphere in England. A member of the official Leeds supporters club said, which I thought was interesting, that he’s not entirely in favour of the expansion, as it could dilute the passion of the crowd if a few hangers on turn up. At the moment they have 35,000 die hard Leeds fans, no cameras, no half and half scarves, not many early leavers, they fill it every week (appreciate they didn’t in the past) and when you go you just know everyone there is a proper long term fan.
Didn’t notice a single half and half scarf at leeds last week, compare that with our place on Wednesday night, fucking embarrassing

Agree 100%, plenty of match going Blues should have a look at themselves when it cones to atmosphere and the reputation we now have as a fanbase.

Just ban them, it’s as simple as that. The majority of the profit goes to street sellers, so the club won’t really lose out. Even as a token gesture to disengaged traditional Blues, it would be welcomed.

It should feel naturally awkward and embarassing if you have to cause people to stand or move so you can leave early. We do it en masse so its expected, normal and complelety without emotion. I bet you get some looks or comments if that happened at anfield.

The reason is that thise leaving in the main are the tourists, free school trips , viagogo crowd who couldn't give a fuck how the match actually ends they just want thier selfies and tok tok videos from the start to prove they where there anything after that is irrelevant to them. To counter argue on the clubs behalf tje only reason they are there is because it enough of our genuine fans are taking up the seats as they can't even be arsed going .

Can't speak for other parts of the ground but, SC holders (same faces) around me regularly leave from 85 onwards.

It’s been called out for years on here, but always batted back by the “free country, don’t tell me what to do” lot. It then became normalised behaviour and seeped into casual approach to pre and post half time and epidemic levels of leaving even the most important matches. Half of the time people call out empty seats it’s because of these periods in the match. It’s a huge part of the pitiful state of our fanbase right now IMO and I doubt it will ever change regardless of changes to travel and infrastructure around the ground.

I don't think that's true... the tourists like to see the team walk around at the end. It's mainly the regulars leaving early I'm afraid...

It may be different in different areas of the ground to be fair but from my season ticket seat in east 3 , it's the swathes of school kids who have had their fun waving around the light on their phones and shouting 6 , 7 who get up en mass from the 80th minute onward, similar in the family stand which is directly to my right.

Some season ticket holders around us at forest. Colin bell level 1. Got there 10 minutes late, hugged everyone around them. Didn’t sing one song or shout anything. Kept telling everyone around them the Chelsea score on their phone. One of them got up 33 mins to get a hot dog came back at 41. Went up for half time came back at 50, soon as forest equalised, checked all the scores again and the only thing they shouted all game ‘sort it out Pep don’t bring savinho on he’s shit’

Left on 90th minute even with 7 minutes shown.

Pretty typical of many IMO, but whatever you do, don’t tell them what to do, they’ve paid their money etc…
