Seat Counters 25/26

25 years or so ago the club had a simple statement that was a genuine appreciation from the directors regarding the backing we had given the team through the dark times.

'Supporting our Supporters'.

It was only a three word slogan, but it summed up in its way the connection we all had in a knd of 'we're all in this together' type of mindset.

That friendliness towards us in those days has long since disappeared, and replaced with such a voracious appetite for money they are actively alienating many of us.

I find myself in a weird conflict at the moment. I support the team, but dislike the club, if that makes sense. Well, it does to me, and I can't help the way I feel. If that offends anyone, so be it.

'Screwing our Supporters' is probably a fair rewrite of that old slogan, in lots of different ways today.

Know exactly what you mean.

A combination of various degrees of prices, ease of attendance & not being appreciated isn't a good cocktail and will see long-term fans continuing to pick and choose or walk away.

Id love to know what that connection was? Nostalgia just isn't what it used to be.

We have indeed Tim, but there are ways of doing it without pissing off your core supporters

True mate. For the benefit of earlier posters who might be too young to remember. The demolition of the Platt Lane and replacing it with a miniature stand built around .2 tiers of executive boxes was worse than the new North Stand IMHO.

So many people on here 'dislike' the club...?
If i felt that way i wouldn't support the club either, i find it bizzare...

I just don't feel any different to the days when as a 5 yr old I cut out photographs of Harry Dowd diving across the muddy goalmouth, or Lee won pen, sticking another in, and stuck them in a cheap fools cap book. Over 60 yrs later I still get that incredible buzz every matchday.
I am sorry for those who have lost that, if they indeed had it in the first place.

We don’t dislike the club, it’s the opposite in fact. We don’t like the ticketing policy and pricing, as it’s harming our long term support.

I don’t know how many times I need to say that. I want to see 61,000 every week next year, with lots of long term proper blues there, whilst welcoming some new fans.

That isn’t achievable with the draconian policies around ticket transferring, lack of season tickets on offer (also the flexi surcharge) and charging the prices they do.

It was before my time but the people protesting Swales weren’t doing it because they hated the club, it was because he was destroying it. Now, I’m not for a minute comparing the current leadership to Swales, but we’re disagreeing with the ticketing pricing and policies as it’s harming us.

I don’t know why you can’t see that, after weeks of talking about this.

Anyway, current count for Madrid:

L3: 3,989
L2: 47
L1: 0

Total: 4,036

I don't dislike the club,I love it! I just hate the faceless twats who are making and implementing these ticketing rules etc. The club will be here long after these charlatan hoodwinks have scurried off. But I totally get your angst.

Thanks for counting. Real Madrid have not taken up 1,500 seats in L3, so the sales are better than they appear.

That’s correct but two years ago people would be flapping to try and get a ticket, now we’re wondering if it will sell and when.

Well said. We were a laughing stock in those days and have come a long way since then.

Agree with both these posts but there is a massive ray of hope: the new stand. They have to use this to both rejuvenate the atmosphere and entice back lapsed, vocal fans. It will cost them money as a lost leader but inject new energy into the club. A single noisy “end” will attract new, lapsed and even corporate fans to the club.

It’s blindingly obvious if you ask me. Once last chance.
And yet they've already fucked that new stand before they've opened it by prioritising corporates over genuine supporters

It’s a fine line keeping traditional supporters happy and ensuring the future of the club.

Honestly I don’t see this as a City problem it’s football as a whole. We keep up or vanish into the lower leagues. That’s the horrible choice. Whatever City do there will always be someone unhappy and lessons to learn.

In this environment I wouldn’t swap our owners. It’s dog eat dog. 115 is testament to that. I just wish the finances hadn’t taken over so much so quickly.

If it wasn’t for PSR clubs could subsidise match day tickets. This could be avoided by part of the broadcast contract being ringfenced to keep tickets lower for ordinary fans. Another solution would be to make spending on subsidising tickets to be exempt from PSR as is infrastructure spending. Clubs would be allowed to charge market level prices for corporate sections.

Something bugging me about the seat count. There’s blocks in the middle of both CB stand 3 and East 3 that have zero seats, then right next to them it’s in the hundreds. Is that due to these third party vendors being given decent view tickets? Is it genuine sales as that is the best view? Is it that City have taken those off sale to sell other blocks first?

Wish I could like this more times.
