Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Watched PSG v Chelsea in the second half. Both PSG and Chelsea attacking at will, pace, slick passing, using the wings, etc. Only Chelsea’s collapse at the end saw them get beat 5-2. If Enrique becomes available next season or the season after, City should sign him as our next Manager.

There are no excuses for tonight against a weakened Real Madrid. Fact is it could have been 5 nil without Donna. The set up was all wrong just to fit in his star boys Bernie and Savinho. It made us unbalanced and susceptible to the break. Real were hungry and worked harder and for that the players need to look at themselves. Erling was sulking and not making any runs off the ball as he knew he wouldn't get the ball.

Anyway you look at this it was a disaster. Pep should take the blame. Arrogant to not go for more control and make us hard to beat. To play 4-2-4 away in a 2 legged tie in the last 16 is not good. Nico O and Khush should have played but not as fullbacks.

No way we can score 4 against these.

I love Pep but he got it woefully wrong again.

He was brilliant enough to find the Rodri-O'Reilly-Bernardo midfield that would've strangled the life out of this game. Ait Nouri and Nunes have been great at providing the width and supporting the wingers. Guehi and Khusanov are quick enough to risk playing a high line yet we got Dias in there.

I just don't understand throwing all the good work he's done in the past month out the window.

If the club is serious they'd sack him tonight but that's not going to happen, his most embarassing night as a City manager by far, simply because you thought he couldn't fuck it up again but of course he did, let's just see:

Playing Khusanov at RB instead of Nunes who's been excellent for no reason, playing O'Reilly at LB instead of Ait Nouri who's been excellent for no reason, making 1 change at half time instead of 4 and that change was Reijnders who has been rotting on the bench for most of last month, going back to the old let's put Marmoush on in the 85th minute to change the game despite the latter impressing against Newcastle, what a shock that all of that resulted in us getting destroyed and creating fuck all.

Oh and just for the record Madrid were missing Mbappe, Bellingham, Rodrygo and a couple of others, only Pep would get destroyed by this Madrid side with the team that he has.

Nobody can argue with what he's done at this club, but there's been plenty of moments where his arrogance has cost us in Europe.

How many more games does he need to realise not to play a high line away from home in Europe.

He doesn't learn, did shit like this when we were good and it didnt work. How the fuck can you sit there watching it and not seeing the problems. Then to stand there waving your arms about disappointed when it was mostly on you... We have the odd decent gane but it's normally followed by some shit show, it's 1 step forward 2 steps back. Things need to change

Yet another fuck up in a long line of fuck ups in the past 18-24 months.

Nunes with two assists on Saturday, dropped.

Marmoush with two goals on Saturday, dropped.

A midfield TWO for the first time this season away at Real Madrid.

NOR playing well in midfield? Put him back at left back.

RAN playing well and would bring some much needed creativity against a low block? Dropped.

Stones stormer on Saturday? Dropped.

Dias not played well in years, retains his place.

Cherki to play against a low block? Nah.

All this in one night.

All while he stands there sulking on the sideline with his hands in his pockets leaving his assistance coaches as the ones trying to motivate the players instead of him.

After that shambles I am seriously worried about what starting eleven he is going to gift us for the cup final.
Khiara Keating, Rico Lewis, Max Alleyne, an injured Gvardiol, Kovacic, Kolo Toure, Khaldoon, Lauren Kemp, Laura Coombs, the girl behind the counter in the City store and Pete the Badge as the lone fox in the box.

Dont get his squad selection, but i also dont get the players signed last 2 years. None of them are Pep kind of players, except maybe Cherki...Team can't press anymore , cant play theyre way through against teams with high intensity and conceding chances left and right.Maybe it really is time to move on because you wont change 10 players in one summer and this roster will never play the way Pep really wants.
Absolutely this. Bought players with good scoring stats but not thought about how they'd gel. We look nothing like a Pep team.

I'm positive the club bought Reijnders thinking he'd solve our number 8 problem, Gundo replacement. But he's a move ending 10, which we absolutely had no need for. He has no presence whatsoever and he keeps Cherki and Marmoush out of the team.

Semenyo. Good goal stats and gets on the end of moves. Bad first touch and doesn't fit our team playing alongside Haaland. We seem to now be shoehorning in him as an inside forward where he doesn't have the necessary attributes.

Marmoush. Pretty good player but can't play alongside players who don't create for him. He deserves a run in the team as a lone striker.

100% all on him. Set us up as badly as it gets. The increased frequency in which he sets us up poorly for games is alarming, over the last 2 seasons it's been far more than the rest of his career.

If he wasn't Pep Guardiola, we'd have made a change a while ago. Pep can stay as long as he wants as far as i'm concerned for what he's given us, so it's not a pep out post by any means but he needs to take responsibility for the defeat, recognise the massive errors he is routinely making and change.

The problem is the system, any and all players will not perform to their level if the system is broken yet even the subs he made tonight were pretty much like for like, or as close to, Indicating to me he didnt think the system was the glaring problem.

Yeah, everything starts around mindfield in Peps teams. He has always had superb midfield 3 in all his teams or 4 if needed. Also definetly he has never had so poor wingers and iff you add current Haaland who does nothing it's hard to see how this team should win titles or be a dominating force once again. Without great high pressing and winning balls back, it makes our defensive line vulnerable.
