Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Chelsea fans moaned about his style of play. He won the Prem/FA Cup double with a top top side but was still sacked. He's not a visionary like Pep and last time I looked, Pep had won more trophies in a shorter space of time. Pep is the greatest coach who ever lived albeit yesterday wasn't his finest hour.
I didn't say he was / is better than Pep but Ancelotti is a top manager.
5 CL's is not to be sniffed at

The club offering 70% off all kits for the CC final... Don't try a pull the fucking wool over our eyes and butter us up you set of sneaky twats.

"We played shite last night. Come give us more money." - Get fucked.

In what way? Just to qualify for it or trying to repeatedly win it. Strange if you mean the latter to come on the post match thread of a match where we chopped and changed so much to say that we're geared to that one competition.
The expectation at the top is that we'll continually be contenders - reaching the last four - and that even when we lose we'll walk off the field leaving the opposition not quite sure how they won - and picking up the trophy at a frequency that takes us into the 'won it three times/four times category'. It's just my opinion. I think SM and Khaldoon see football from a more global perspective than the rest of us living in Beswick, Moston, Moss Side, Hulme, Blackley, Whitefield, Stockport, Hazel Grove, Cheadle, Harpurhey, Ashton, Glossop, Hattersley, Bury, Oldham, Bolton and Rochdale etc - while not losing sight of the bread and butter that feeds all this - the Prem. I've lived in half of those places by the way - the cheaper ones......

2nd leg at least we need to give a real fight. fuck if eliminated at least go out with a win like 2-0, 3-1, 2-1. letting them go away with a draw or win from Etihad is very poor given their state this season.

we absolutely should have pulled one back and return to Manchester with 3-1 at least giving us at least a bit of hope for 2nd leg. we hardly put together an attack in all 2nd half which is hard to accept. only real chance was actually Real players falling asleep with the ball and OReilly pressed him and managed to make a shot. wasnt actually a built up attack. we had none of those in all 2nd half. poor.

absolutely certain Kompany and Bayern will eliminate Real which would put our elimination vs Real even worse.

there will be plenty of space for Real counters in 2nd leg, wonder how Pep will try to negate that tactically.

The O'Reilly chance - Courtois was stranded on the left-hand side of the goal - there was two thirds of the goal empty but he managed to poke it within the Courtois stride. Not the magical save as being made out.

What makes you think pep will try to negate counters, history doesn't suggest it ever enters his mind.

Very difficult for an athlete. It will have an impact on stamina. Phil looks different and has lost too much weight. Something is wrong. There is never a lack of effort but he can’t turn and sprint at the moment and that was a key part of his game.
Loose-tongued people in junior admin roles at the club have let it slip that it's Crohns and City are working with the world's best medics to address it. Very debilitating. I wish the club would say he's playing with a medical condition.

We all know that a healthy Phil takes the ball on the half turn surrounded by close marking defenders, rolls them and surges forward with the ball under control before firing off a precision shot. At the moment he's recycling the ball - five and ten yard passes with none of the usual surge.

It was a really tough watch last night and one that completely caught me off guard following what i thought was a brilliant display at Newcastle.

So many things to pick out of it that were wrong, but the biggest worry for me and huge elephant in the room that were not really allowed to discuss is Haaland. He is a complete passenger in pretty much every game. He drops deep every now and then and maybe holds up a long ball and we find ways to paper over the glaring huge cracks in his game at the moment. We don't really create for him anything of note yet again, his movement when Doku did get into good positions last night was like they've literally never met before. He looks disinterested most of the time and since he's stopped scoring at the end of 2025 its like having 10 men on the pitch.

Not sure on the obvious answers, but unless we solve it, it's hard to really see us winning anything this season which is mental considering the position we are in with two months of the season to go.
I’ve been saying this for a while
Those early crosses that first season he would have been there to knock em in now he spends more time ball watching or making half assed runs forward like that’s all he has to do, pep won’t drop him if he’s fit
He’s fell of a cliff since signing that big contract by his standards. All we had to do last night was keep it tight and try on the break, a 0-0 or even a 1-0 would have been fine as I’m confident we can beat them at home now that’s all real have to do while we have to attack and if we play those same players in those positions , well doesn’t bare thinking about. Doesn’t matter anyway we are not beating them 4-0.
oh and we. Wed to offload savinho and Casper our scouting has been shite for a while and those players who battered Newcastle deserve better than this.

I think the 2nd goal shocked the players and the 3rd killed them.

The game reminded me somewhat of the 3:0 defeat of the Centurions at Anfield in 2018. We were huge favourites before that game. But unlike last night, the Anfield result was heavily influenced by refereeing mistakes. Then we played a fantastic 1st half in the 2nd leg and deserved to be at least two goals up at half-time, but another refereeing mustake killed our chances.

Who wouldn’t miss a David silva in there side, hard, very hard to replace, i don’t know who could but that’s the sort of player we are needing. A baller, a player that can thread intricate passes and break a defensive wall. Haaland feeding off scraps.
Add in a KDB, Yaya, Aguero, Kompany & Fernandinho
