West Ham United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Id like to win the league but I'm not going to be a mardarse seeing my team in 2nd place.

You can't win the league every year. It's impossible.

Hopefully next year we'll be better. I don't think we're far off.
Because we won 4 in a row, some fans think it’s easy & that we should win it every year without having to rebuild.

They’re too impatient to wait

Pep was the best. What made him great deserted him a while ago.

We can blame the players all we want but who's the last player Pep has actually improved?

Doku, Savinho and Grealish were all better players before we signed them. Reijnders and Cherki can barely get a look in. Haaland and Foden are unrecognizable from previous years.
Pep's not interested in developing players at this point.

His only objective is to win something before he leaves the club and that's going very badly for him.

I’d rather we lost. A draw is no good, the league is now gone but at least a loss would have made Spurs relegation more likely

Lescott just said a good point that shows that we have a fundamental issue, along with the recruitment issue that hasnt worked...

'None of the players (except cherki) seem to know how to pass to haaland'

Hopefully he really doesn't think that and says it to the players.
He should be thumping our set piece coach as 1 corner conceded results in a goal and we wasted all 15 of ours.
But our coaching seems miles off, esp in the final third and finishing but just think everyones too comfy and not accountable to anyone these days
I agree. If we win the league we may well see what he's actually saying to players in the end of season Doc.

Believe it or not, we've been awarded almost the same amount of corners as Arsenal this season, having played one less game.

They've scored 3x as many goals and we're not a small side.
Arsenal are all about set pieces the holding of opponents the time delay to ensure that the opposition loosing concentration Arteta had a study for it Pep is never going to use such tactics and I for one wouldn’t want him to Agreed though that we don’t score enough legitimately from set pieces

I truly believe that is the case with many of our fans ? We all think Pep is a genius and wonder why he can fail
It took 5 years for Pep to build a team and squad for the 4-in-a-row titles

Pep needs a little bit of luck, just like the other managers, who fight for their lives week in week out

The price of sucess i guess mate.

It brings entitled fans to us.

Maybe we can house them all in the new super stand?

Both his last team selections were wrong but would have made more sense if they were the other way around. Attacking team tonight and solid grafters away to Madrid.

Our final ball or final shot/finish was woeful, as were our set pieces - and that's what cost us. Our overall play outside of this was decent, but we conceded from their only corner of the game and contrived to miss chance after chance. feels like everything that could bounce our way doesn't, and everything that could go against us does. Been that kind of season.

We’re absolutely shite but who the fuck is our set piece coach. 7 different takers and they were all a mess until the Guehi chance.
Set piece coaches are an overblown load of shite.

95% of what makes a good corner is the quality of delivery by the player taking them.

A set piece coach can get two players doing ‘oops up side your head’ at the front post, three players doing ‘a ring a ring a roses’ at the far post, and five players doing cartwheels in a flying ‘V’ formation through the middle like a choreographed West End production… but if the cross is shit, it comes to nothing and all that bollocks in the box means fuck all.

Good corners are more about scouts identifying good corner takers and the DoF buying them, than it is set piece coaches.
