47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

This is such an oversimplification of the sport lol

Haha. It’s just not though, is it?

He’s an attacker. He’s not an 8. He’s not a 6. He’s not a full back. He’s not a centre half.

He’s been played as a winger and a second striker. His role in the side is to make an impact by scoring goals and getting assists.

Drop Haaland and throw Foden more into the box as a false 9 against Madrid, he's useless in every deeper role anyway, so it could click with more shooting opportunities.

This is seemingly the Savinho thread all over again tonight. He had a somewhat lively, brief cameo, wasn't good but certainly nothing to be criticising, the type of appearance that doesnt really warrant any kind of comment but yet there are plenty of emptional over reactions.

The magic has gone, he looks afraid of the ball and lost the spark that made him so great. Genuinely don’t know where the club go here

He hasn’t forgotten how to play football. He just needs more trust and confidence from Pep, and he’ll get back to his best. We need him with his ability to score from distance and assists haaland.

He’s an exceptional talent and has shown for years what he’s capable of. Players go through rough patches, but if Haaland has been playing for three months while not hitting anything, then Phil deserves the same patience and trust. He’s earned it.

We need him on the pitch.

Well I hope you’re in Doku’s thread every week.

Fs at least be fair to him. He got 20 minutes and for the majority of that time there were 10 West Ham in the box. I think Blues get that used to complaining when a player is in bad form, they can’t see anything that doesn’t fit with that. Many times I heard people complain about Nunes when he turned a corner, Savio has had the odd good game and people can’t see it as they’re that used to slagging him off. Phil had been shocking for a good few months, but IMO he looked hungry tonight, there were some positive signs and I wish he’d been on the pitch longer.

His confidence has totally gone, he’s scared silly of making a mistake and he’s constantly playing it safe! Another player that would benefit hugely under a new manager with fresh ideas!

He will get a new deal. Probably like 100k/week. Won’t make the WC squad either so he can finally have some free time for himself this summer . Maybe next season

Don't think he did anything wrong last night. I think most of the team have struggled individually and collectively this last two seasons. We're doing well to be second in the league, a cup final and still in the CL and FA cup all things considered. But I think Peps constant tinkering around with players trying to find a balanced solution has done more harm than good to most. He needs to pick players in their preffered positions and a format with a settled starting eleven and give it a run.

Well I hope you’re in Doku’s thread every week.
Well, as Doku keeps skinning defenders and creating chances there’s no need for comment. It’s not his fault they aren’t being converted. Hence Doku will be our main hope of doing something on Tuesday and Foden will probably be on the bench.

Foden needs minutes but right now he doesn't offer much. Savinho could have done better yesterday, at least he's quick and can get past defenders. Perhaps Semenyo should have stayed on the pitch. More of a threat currently.
