14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

Pep hates stats like this. Anyone can see it when he’s not in the team. The numbers are damning. This alone should have pep fucked off.

We will lose a quality player and we don’t have to but we will because of pep guardiola
Fuck me are you actually a Blue. What a weird view. All you go on about is sacking Pep.

What a start to his tenure as our DoF. If Rodri leaves, we’ll be caught with our pants down at the 6 once again.

Surprise, surprise a player who did well until he was injured playing every game is upset he can’t even get a substitute appearance when fit.

Nico G will stay, but only because IMO Rodri will be off.

One of the biggest mysteries of the season is why Nico and Cherki haven't started more games
We looked the best we have all season in that period before Christmas with Nico G, Bernie, Foden, Cherki and Doku/Reijnders behind Haaland.

Pep would rather continue flogging a jaded Rodri and start 3 wingers instead of reverting back to that set up it seems. We were crying out last year for youth and energy and now its just back to turgid nonsense football.

I think it's his way of 'grounding' the younger players and making sure they know who is boss still. Fucking baffling with performances and results where they are at the moment but no shock Pep is again prioritising his ego over what's actually best for the team.

I think it's more between him and Bernardo. Nico + Rodri makes sense, but Pep doesn't fancy a midfield without Bernardo.

Nico G isn't perfect, so anyone acting like leaving him out is crazy is going over the top. He's a player who has done well at times this season and could go on to be really good for us, but isn't there yet.

I'd like to see us try a midfield 3 of him, Rodri and Cherki, but it probably won't happen. Our best passers, but perhaps they haven't got enough speed when we dont have the ball, but we'll never know if we don't try it.

I wouldn't be gutted if he left though because of that - I could understand it. There are players out there who are a bit more dynamic, and that would perhaps help us at times. Anderson would probably give us that and Gonzalez is probably closest to him in terms of role.

Wouldn't be particularly surprised if Nico or Reijnders left this summer. Manchester isnt for everyone from warmer places, particularly if you aren't a regular starter.

He has to start again. He has the ability to pass through the lines from deep. Nico and Rodri with Cherki in the 10.

Comparing it to the midfield on Saturday - Bernie, Rodders and O'Reilly it's only the latter that has any pace so it shouldn't be a huge issue. The solution would be to leave one of the full backs in a position to deal with the counter or invert one to close the space.

I can't fathom what everyone else seems to see with this lad.

I agree that he should be utilised more, but only for extra legs and to give Rodri / Bernardo a break, but overall I think he's pretty average. Maybe I'm unwittingly comparing him with Rodri and I'm being hugely unfair.
I know Spain are stacked but he's not young anymore, no international caps.

NOR needs the break more than rod/bern, he's got a 20 yr olds body..if pep doesnt give him a sit down soon he'll be on the addisons stroke.

I think he’s a decent option at least from the bench. Never picked. Clearly has had a fall out. Our midfield recruitment has been messy what with him and Phillips (and potentially rejinders)
