Incredible that we’re 2nd in the league, 2nd top scorers (by 1) and 2nd best defence given that we rarely keep clean sheets and struggle to score

Ahh those stats eh? Watched us struggle to score enough to beat the mighty Forest, Brighton, Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham, and fail to keep a clean sheet in them all, against three teams of whom are fighting relegation. The stats say we're doing great though, my eyes tell me differently.

We've got nothing to lose now, nobody expects us to go through, least of all anyone to do with Real Madrid, so we might as well throw the shackles off and give it a real go from the start, with a shoot on sight policy at the forefront of our plans ..... all this trying to walk it into the net doesn't appear to be working for us, any deflection from a shot can result in a goal, and we DO need to score goals in this game ..... we need the players to forget about the Carabou Cup final for now and give this game 100% , and if we fail to go through at the end of it all, at least we'll know we did our best.

Its worth noting that the value of the dipper result has to be assessed in the light of results Spurs, Wolves and others managed there. A good pschological boost for us but hardly a footballing feat.
Anyway, I am praying hard for a big upset tm which would see a massive turnaround for us.

That doesn’t come into it at all, at least in my example.

It’s a lot harder to win at Anfield than it is at West Ham - including this season. That’s a fact based on their home records.

As another example, if we beat Real Madrid 4-0 tomorrow, it doesn’t mean we’ll play a worse team at home the week after and win 5-0.

The point was more about the logic of not being able to score 3 past Madrid, if we only got 2-0 past Salford.

Like I said, that’s not how football works.

Given Madrid will just put 11 men behind the ball and hit us on the counter we need as many technical players starting as possible. Similar to what we ended the West Ham game with, I would line up:

Donnarumma

Nunes - Dias - Stones - Ait Nouri

Bernardo - Rodri - Reijnders

Cherki - Foden - Doku

Obviously I think there is less than 1% chance Pep picks something remotely similar.

It’s become a free hit now after the first leg.
No real expectation of going through. Just a pity it’s a 3 goal deficit.

Hopefully it ends up a late night - extra time and a win !

Yes. Those insignificant ‘stats’ such as points, goals and goals conceded. Don’t know why people bother with them at all

And the fucking surrender at the swamp , which is unforgivable .

Not really, West Ham game will have taken a lot out of them.It was intense in terms of finding that winner. West Ham made us work. Not sure they need to work on fitness, they need rest more than anything. They know what they have to do. Pep needs to find that perfect team selection.
There's only 8 league games left. And we're likely going out of the CL tomorrow. Rest? If you're not fit now, and you're name is not Mateo Kovacic, then you've got to step up and play. And we've got enough players to rotate if he wants to do it. Rest? Now? Rubbish.

Anyone who can predict a Pep lineup for this game is a clever fuker

Yes. The winners should be decided by how things appear to fans. This is more important than points and goals. Fans should determine the champions by voting. "My eyes tell me X are the best team."

I wonder where would Arsenal land based on the eye test. Midtable?

If we miraculously get past the francos don’t we face Bayern in the next round?
We ain’t beating those fukers that’s for sure

Me neither, although we won a title by one stat, although its very rare that happens. It's true though, nobody except nerds really care about stats on the whole, although modern football shows seem.obsessed with them.
Here's another stat, we've only lost one game in the last eighteen in the premier league and that was against the rags. Pretty good eh, only looking at the table the stats tell we are nine points behind Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand.
Maybe what i should have said is we aren't defending or attacking well enough. Given my last sentence the stats agree with me eh?
