3 | Ruben Dias - 2025/26

Living off his first three years. Good for him, not his fault Pep refuses to bench him

Hindsight and all, but that contract extension was a mistake. Doesn't have the ball playing ability or pace required to play the way Pep wants.

Shite since coming back from injury, hopeully it's Khus and Stones this Sunday, hell I'd start Ake over Ruben at this point.

Hes only 28 but seems to be declining prematurely and rapidly.

Granted he's never been the most athletically gifted but he had timing and anticipation that more than made up for it. Those seem to be gone now and he's just looks poor against anyone with a bit of pace and control.

Looks like an old man out there at 28.

He's been shite for a a number of seasons now, in fact since he was given that big extension.

He's actually symptomatic of our malaise. Seems to think the world is against him rather than focussing on his own job.

I'd say he'd be one to let go, but yet another who is on a huge contract that nobody else is going to take on

Still, at least he gets to rail Maya Jama and become a celebrity. Swings and roundabouts.

But yeah he will be here a while, probably holding back better defenders because nobody will match or better the contract we gave him.

Sadly he will keep being picked based on "experience" even though any decent attacking player can tie him in knots these days.

I’d be happy to see him go but it’s unlikely based on that.

Got an contract extension which was dumb already this summer. Don’t get the club sometimes.

Squad player next season , he is getting untidy with his defending , cant fault his leadership qualities but father time has caught up with him , Khusanov , Guehi and Gvardiol ,are younger and better players now , Dias has been a brilliant player for our club and that cannot be underestimated , will still be a big presence in the squad on match days similar to Vinny in his last season.

He seems to be getting slower and slower; he tries to mask it by retrieving the ball from the net or gesturing with his hands, and I don't know what he's whispering in his teammates' ears during corners...

Luckily he didn't score. That sequence with little Brahim Diaz making him fall on his backside would have gone viral, like the one with Messi and Boeteng.
God spared us from that.

Father Time?? He’s only 28!

If that’s old…

I criticize it because there's disappointment, but if we analyze things deeply, no defender can thrive if our defense remains so exposed. We're constantly defending in a panic because we're defending by retreating, because there's no protection.

His error in the first minute nearly put the tie over right there and then. Currently the weakest of our defenders in terms of performance levels.
