Real Madrid (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Not that bold considering they've got the league wrapped up and have a final on Sunday,
They don’t have the league wrapped up at all. They are in a fantastic position but if we do our jobs we could be at least 3 points behind them with 5 matches to play. Maybe even less if Bournemouth can do us a favour

It shows how far we've fallen that we're all saying, "well at least we tried"..
If we’d have lost on the night with 11 then you’d have a point but we were the better side for at least 60 mins of that last night with 10 men. It was a great effort considering the circumstances.

We had more attempts, more attempts on target, more blocked shots and if you take away their penalty our xG would have been the same.

"Have a day off" for giving my opinion. You must be part of the "I'm a bigger City fan than you" crew. You have a day off from trying to make out you're correct, when it's all opinions.

It sounds like you're going to be late for school mate.

I am literally the biggest fan (I think) but thats another story...

Anyway, back to the point

You had a pop "at least we tried"

We dominated Madrid with 10 men and created enough chances to win

So yeah have a fucking day off.

As for school, some need to have some sort of education, just parroting bollocks over and over.

I was well proud of the effort and performace last night, long may that last.

I wondered this when I watched it. Seemed very dodgy.

Could see this at the time. Everyone I was with watching it said, "why do they keep replaying the handball, it's already been given offside"

After seeing that again, and remembering how bias the referee was - fair play to the players. It was 10 Vs 12 out there and they didn't give up

Well, City started just how many of us wanted, high pace and pushed right up, attacking with an element of caution thrown out the window. And it really nearly yielded that early goal, and perhaps should have. First 15 were very strong.

The penalty and goal were a gut punch, I was floored and that makes the 10 man response all the more amazing, 60 minutes fighting and running. Yes we got cut through a number of times but we produced a lot of chances to win it.

I enjoyed the night and appreciated the effort from City

However, in there lies an element of worry: why are we not finishing things off? Opening 12 or so in Madrid and very much the opening 15 last night should have each produced a goal. Throughout the 2 legs, and games with west ham and forest, we are struggling to convert. Absolutely no one can shoot from range or take a free kick. We seem beset by brain farts.

Anyways, the players: Doku shone, what a menace. Khusa was huge, Nunes good, Cherki good, Rodri great with the ball (less so without), Ait Nouri good. Haaland looked a bit more rounded but somethings not right.

Dias getting hooked at HT wasn't entirely with Sunday in mind was it....Reijnders also poor.

I had no idea what was happening at this point

Screens should do a better job

No lines were drawn on my stream, which is normal in 2026. Even after 5-10 minutes when they were showing the replay they didn't draw lines. They then realised he was offside and just focused on replaying the "handball" over and over. It was ridiculous

Of course he's onside...they waited until after the game to show the lines so they could find the perfect frame to stop at where he's just onside.

I have been suspicious that officials have decided to stop showing them drawing the lines and checking in real time this season. We see nothing and suddenly they appear with images to “prove” their decisions. One does wonder if they are fishing for the one frame they will use as onside / offside pending what suits them.

Can't disagree with that. Khus is a future captain - he's already showing more leadership than most of the "leadership group". The lad would run through a brick wall for the team.

Nunes mugged off Vini Jr at one point in the first half. He's gone from me never wanting to see him in the first team, to hoping he's starting.

I'm worried about Rodri being ran into the ground (again). He needs to use Nico G more.

I wonder if we’ll see that 3 at the back more often after it was tested last night. When we were on it we managed to camp them in a bit - admittedly they were allowing it and in second gear - but it also created a plethora of chances because of the bodies we have up there.

Guehi, Khusa and one more at the back with Nunes and RAN getting up and down the wings to provide width but also defensive cover considering how good their engines are.

Would create a solid defensive base especially given there’d be two midfielders in front of them to provide added protection meaning we’d essentially have 5 attackers plus in 2 strikers, 1 behind and 2 wing backs.

Allows players up top to be central which is what Pep has been trying all season - Doku produced his best form at the start of the season when he was asked to play centrally.

Would mean Stones could get minutes in an arguably less demanding role given he’d have two CBs either side of him.
