Ah yes, all those slaughtered Muslim children and women that want the extinction of Israel. All those hospitals and schools that are bombed because the patients, doctors, nurses, teachers and pupils all want the extinction of Israel. All those IDF terrorists watching Palestinians kids bleed to death because said kids want the extinction of Israel. All those oppressed Palestinians in the West Bank that have their homes appropriated by illegal settlers and their families slaughtered because they want the extinction of Israel.

They attack Iran and then suspend sanctions on Iranian oil - they have no fucking clue what they are doing and nothing they do makes sense.

You haven't read nearly enough on the subject. Ben Gurion and other leaders knew quite well that plonking down a new state in the middle of Palestine was going to be extremely unpopular with the indigenous population. Extreme force was going to be needed. They started expelling people, and destroying villages on day 1.
Some parts of the Israeli political scene were more conciliatory but the idea that it is just the Palestinians who have rejected the two state solution is wrong.
As far as your assertion that Hamas and other extreme elements inside and outside Palestine want to kill all Jews. I think they actually want Israel to not exist, which is different. After all as I have said many British get very exercised over all the boat migrants coming in. Imagine if said migrants divided the country in half, set up a government, got funded and armed by the US.
It is very easy for people like you to look at the picture from a Eurocentric point of view. The Holocaust was undeniably one of the most appalling crimes in history and caused by a European country. The swell of sympathy and government shame meant that the creation of Israel was very necessary. However none of this was the fault of Palestinians. Who just saw a country where they made up 90 percent of the population before WW1 being irrevocably changed with no consultation. It was imposed by Britain. So I see no reason why Palestinians would have to accept the state of Israel.

Well considered post, much of which I agree with, but there is a reason why Palestinians have to accept the state of Israel: because it’s there. There is no point denying reality. It isn’t going to go anywhere so that can be the only rational starting point, as hard as it might be to accept.

It’s tragic in many ways, but it’s reality.

I’m genuinely curious how people envision Israel ceasing to exist. Are people expecting them to just go quietly? An Israel with nukes?

I agree that they have to accept the facts on the ground.

All I was saying is that it is very easy for people living in the West to think that Israel was a great idea because it gave a home to a people who had been murdered in their millions without thinking at all about the people who were directly affected by the creation of a new state.
 
Trump is two days away from saying "I'll give you to the count of three, or I am going to commit the worst war crimes against you, and no TV till the weekend either". Who let this guy think he was some mastermind deal making negotiater, it's having some terrible consequences now.
