5 | John Stones - 2025/26

I had a feeling he'd play the world cup and then retire. As it is he might not make it. For all people can slag him off for being injured all the time, the person most pissed off with it has to be himself surely
I don’t think anyone is slagging him off for being injured. Hardly his fault is it.

fantastic player, cant keep fit, john stones if he could stay fit is in with a shout of being the best CB in world football, sadly his body lets him down time and time again, think Marc will be his natural replacement , him and Khusa will make a tremendous CB pairing, ruben and nathan as experienced heads send allayne out on loan, not seen a lot of reis, maybe replace allanye as the young un in the squad
Don't forget Josko. Think he replaces Ake in your list above

Its nothing new right?

Everybody knew even when he comes back from an injury he would just get injured again, we have years upon years of evidence for this.

This is why we have to part ways, its unfortunate, if fit, he could have maybe been a shout for one of the best English CBs of all time, because we have seen the quality when fit, but longevity matters.

There's been a few slate him for being injured. All the time/ except for England... sort of thing .
If I was an employer and one of my staff was hardly ever in yet could attend events outside their main work place but then return and not come back to work I’d be having a word about maybe nit fucking going and retiring from it. To me it’s fucking selfish this guy constantly goes away with England and comes back injured, sometimes your body says enough and he shouldn’t be going and maybe concentrate on been fit for us, not a chance he gets a new contract.

Club should’ve got rid of him last season when KDB Gundo Ederson left he’s played like 2 games and he’s injured again. 250k a week and Reece James still played more games than him

Why begrudge him wanting to play for England when he isn't playing for City even when he is fit? He can sit on the bench here - because there's other players rightly being selected ahead of him - so why give up on England where he might actually play?

So...lets be clear here..what are you saying
John Stones deliberately gets himself injured on England duty ...
Is that what your saying,? comes back to us deliberately injured..

Or ,maybe you wanna have a word with the 6ft JS and tell him to his face ...your selfish, pack England up now, put City first...Ever wondered how much the Barnsley born Stones loves playing for his country? Ask him! To his face ,lol.

Rightly or wrongly he loves his country, not many from Barnsley have made international football fame, the lads a legend in the Yorkshire town ,still down to earth humble and committed as he ever was throughout his whole career..

Would you have stopped David Silva joining Spains international squad the upteenth times he did during his City career?

What's that you say ,it's different Silva didn't get injured....

Oh we're back to the deliberately being injured view are we ?

Players play for their countries,it happens ,just think yourself lucky Barnsley born players dont participate in the Afcon!! missing whole chunks of the season, fans like you be doing their nut.

Monday morning rant over ,lol feel better now ;)

No what’s clear is that Stones priorities are with England and not City. He can’t put 90mins together for City but runs off to England duties knowing full well his body can’t take it.

What relevance is David Silva? After what he did when his son was born let’s not get into sacrifices being made for City eh.
But for the record yeh he was rarely injured and played for City and Spain without much issue.

How do you know that? Have you spoken to him?

To be fair I bet if you asked every city player club or country, they’d probably pick country. Why on earth would stones or anyone else not do everything they can to play for their country in a major tournament?

He’s also done everything he can to get back and be fit for city. He’s just injury prone

So youre happy him taking £200k a week from us and hardly kicking a ball but will risk going to play for England even though the chances of him getting injured are it seems high? I stopped playing football after getting an injury which put me on the sick for 3 weeks, that said injury has affected my whole working life but I knew if I did it again playing football I’d have severe repercussions at work, they pay my wage and I’d be taking the piss, it’s no different. Ask yourself this would you employ him at your club, knowing his injury record and that he would still put England first? I know I wouldn’t.
As for the Afcon if he went and was fit and had played for us it wouldn’t bother me, but he’s hardly kicked a ball, he’s taking the piss. He doesn’t purposely go out to get injured but it’s obvious his body can’t take it.

Do you think if he was on pay as you play he’d be running off to play in meaningless friendlies to get injured again? Let’s see his next club put him on that, I think he would rethink his priorities then.

A friendly right before the World Cup and when he’s trying to get into the squad. Of course he’s going to play or try and be in the squad. Why wouldn’t he?

I’m pretty sure most of our players would do the same. Criticising a player who wants to play for their country in a World Cup, is just bizzare in my opinion

I think at this stage of his career he probably would go and play for England even if he was on pay as you play deal. As indicated above - he's been fit and available for selection for City and not played - not getting on the pitch for the league cup final. So what use is him not turning up for England?

Also, got injured in training & not a match

He already is one of the greatest English centre backs of all time,by virtue of his unique ball playing style, honours won,and oh yes,the little matter of high number of international caps .....for England.

Longevity matters ? What does that mean as far as Stones is concerned ??

He gets injured putting up a Xmas tree!
